Hello everyone,

Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Amanda and I am from BC, Canada, and I will be getting my first snake on friday. He is a Lavender Corn. I am super excited and have been reading lots of posts on care and feeding and such. Thanks everyone for the awesome information.

Welcome Canada and glad you are with us

Hi there and Welcome. I have been a corn owner for almost three months and I am addicted :D just a warning it happens. lol Good to know you did your research before you committed to owning a corn, but if you have questions don't hesitate to ask. Waiting patiently for pics :D

Welcome and nice to hear you are getting one of my favorite colors - YAY let's hear it for all the Lavs woohoo! :dancer:
I hope you find this site helpful and share your experiences with us!

Ok, So I juuuuust got snakey in the door and set up his temporary tank for now. got him some nice filtered water, some care fresh (for now) and a couple toilet paper hides. He is 10 grams. When would you guys recommend on his first feeding? I know he rejected his last feeding at my friends house who got him from the breeder for me, but we know he was stressed. I got a digital thermometer with a probe and can't seem to remember what optimal temp is, but I will go back and read the basic care again. I took in so much info over the last month or so on snakes and now it seems to have all gone out the window! I will take some pictures shortley, but i think he's a little freaked out right now. He is in the corner all coiled up looking like he is about to strike. So i weighed him, Stuck some substrate and hides in, and want to let him be for a bit.

Welcome and K.Rene is right...it is addicting. We have both gone from 0-8 rapidly. And both want more...as most of us do!! You will find loads of info on here. Give him a few days and he will feel more at home. Are you using a UTH? That is the best heat for a corn as you probably have seen on here. Good luck with your new baby and keep us loaded with pics!!!

Welcome aboard Amanda! And congrats on your lavender. You will have to post pictures for all of us to see when you your new corn!

He's all coiled up and ready to strike at me for disturbing him too much! lol
Poor lil guy. So much trauma and in blue too! Hope the shed goes well. What do you recmmend for humidity, just move the water to the heat side? Or mist? I am using an UTH. My friend thought it would be ok for me to use a human one for now but I think even the lowest setting is too hot. I'm getting over 90. Maybe if I get a dimmer switch.
