Woma: Spring photoshoot

Due to the wonderful weather that we've been having here in NH, I've actually been able to do some outdoor photoshoots. So I took advantage of the weather, and my recently shed Woma, and took him out yesterday, as well as today, and here are a few pictures that I felt were the best of the bunch.

Enjoy :D!

Thanks for looking :)!!!

He is so cool! Nice pics!! What is his name?
Thank you, Nanci! I haven't officially given him a name (I'm just a difficult person when it comes to naming my snakes, not sure why), but one name that I really liked for him was Sidney. a) because he's from Australia, and b) because there's a really good NFL player with the name Sidney (Sidney Rice). Plus, I just kind of like the name.

I like that name! I considered it when I was naming either Adlai or Azaria because I wanted an Australian name. I used to know a marsh hawk named Sid, although I can't remember why we named him that...

Ok now my interest is sparked! Off to research these now and see if I should get one ha!!

Are they pretty hardy and easy to keep? I hear females get bigger from my quick google search

Thanks, Nanci. I think I'll keep it as his name. I like "Sid" for short as well, it will give his name a little more spunk.

Oh god why are Womas so beautiful

why
They really are, aren't they :)? And sweet by nature as well!

I would say that he is very hardy and easy to keep. I have only had him for around 4 months, but everything has been smooth so far (knock on wood). He sheds with no issues, and with NH being somewhat humid as is, I rarely have to soak him to assist his shedding. He needs a bit higher of a hot spot (I have it at around 88-90), but other than that, I keep him just as I would my Corn Snakes. Also, females do get larger. I've seen mixed reports on sizes, and read somewhere that locale will also determine size a bit, but from the averages that I've read I would say that males average around 5ft, females 6ft (someone with more experience please correct me if I'm wrong.

Aside from the husbandry info, he's just a great snake to have. I love his somewhat impressive size, and he has the sweetest personality (when he's well fed). He gets a bit more excited when he's hungry, but even so, he's always a very docile snake.

very cute expression :)
Thanks, Oren! He is one of the few snakes that I actually find "Cute" as well. He has such a shy/sweet face, to me at least.

Mike, did your snake know he could climb trees like that?
Haha! He learned quickly. It was really fun to watch him coil and squirm his way up, though. I just didn't want him to go too high. You can definitely see how they would be able to hunt for birds in the wild that way.

awww what a cutie! I saw my first pair of these at a Reptile show last year! I Loved it! Sooo sweet! And what a different feeling holding a snake larger then my corn at the time! lol

He does have a very sweet expression, and looks great coiled around the tree! Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Thank you! You're right, there is definitely a different feeling holding him as opposed to a Corn Snake. I love his heavy body, and he's just so content to just hang out.

Great pics of a beautiful snake! Thanks for sharing Michael :)
Thank you, Susie! I love sharing photos of him, so your very welcome.

Thank you! He is definitely a sweetie pie :).

Great name for him, Michael. I vote for Sidney. They are gorgeous creatures- we love ours!
Thanks, Lauren. I really couldn't be more happy to have him. He definitely has a special personality, and he's quite handsome as well. I'm glad you like the name too.

Great looking snake and great pics! Just be careful with the trees and such.. I had one try to run away up the tree.. It took me awhile to catch up and get him, then climb down. LOL

Beautiful Woma!!!!!! And great shots as well...!
Thank you very much :)!

Thanks, Trent. Yeah, I was careful not to let him climb too high. He seemed fairly content just hanging out, but boy, he learned quickly how to scale his way up, and I'm sure he would've made up to the top if I let him, lol.
