1.0 Hogg Island x BCI cross

RobbiesCornField

Bring it on.
This little boy is a cross between a Hog Island boa, and a common red-tail.
He's a pretty little guy, and will make someone very happy.

He's available for $50+ shipping, OBO.

Since he's a male... he probably won't exceed the 5.2 feet marker- and will remain relatively slender.

He's very pretty! How big is he likely to get?

The Hog crosses tend to stay smaller than the common redtails, but do get a little larger than pure Hogs. I'd say this guy has the potential to get to be at least 5 feet long, potentially a little larger.

For emphasis' sake- males remain relatively SLENDER- females get twice to three times as wide.

These aren't cornsnakes mind you... but very easy to handle.

Robbie, can I get a current weight, approximate length & food item size so I can start getting all the necessary together?

Oh, and what temps is he used to? Different care sheets say different things. For summer he gets what I get as ambient (80-86F) + warm side at whatever you specify, for winter I will set up a second UTH set lower to meet his needs, so I want to know what I need to set up so that can be put together & temp tested.

F/T adult mice. Current length about 16-18 inches. I'll have to get a weight for you when I find the scale. :p

He's used to right around 85* for an ambient temperature. :)

Hey, that's one pretty snake! I think I would have been tempted by him, and I'm not even looking at buying a larger snake unless it's a BRB!

You're gonna love that snakie, I think, Betsy. I hope you'll give us occasional pix of him while he grows :).

Thanks Robbie! That means for the first little while he can live in a big tub like everyone else while I save up for a lifetime enclosure. Mice I have an ample supply of. What does he like for a warm side temperature? I will get his tub set up & regulating before I leave for Daytona so it will be perfect when he arrives. What does he like for substrate? I like cypress for Marbles the BP as it holds humidity better, but I can do whatever is best for this guy.

I prefer cypress for all boids, because of the humidity factor. :) For his warm side, he seems to like it around 90*F. And he's definitely used to tubs. He seems to like those for the seclusion factor. He can be a little... cage "aggressive", but once you get him out, he's fine.

Thanks! That's what I need to know. He'll get used to being taken out & we'll get over the cage "aggressive" thing while he is still a baby. Should I get a hook & teach him to ride it? Or has he already learned that?

He's VERY good on a hook, but doesn't like to get off of it sometimes. LOL. I always begin training boids with a hook when they're babies. :)
