10,000 B.C

Saw It Today

It was ok. CG was pretty good. The story was laughable, (not so much because it was implausible- they just said really hokey things!) the narration was annoying- they could have accomplished the film without it, the characters kind of all blended together. Go to a matinee...

Apocalypto was SO much better.

I just got back from seeing it too. I really liked it though! What can I say, I have a thing for those kinds of movies. The costumes were awesome and a good story. I'd give it a thumbs up lol :)

I thought they just had white war paint lol
I am sort of mixed about Apocalypto. It was a good movie, just inaccurate historically (not that 10,000 BC was any better) I had to study the Maya in high school and I thought Apocalypto didn't do the best job of portraying their civilization.
Anyway since I won a movie gift card in a raffle and have been using it to pay for the movies, it wasn't like it was a waste of money to go see this one .

Well, I was a bit dissapointed as well. I enjoyed watching the good computer graphics (My next pet will be a saber tooth tiger, I've decided. JK!) But much of the story was indeed laughable. But hey, It was pleasing on the eyes, and my bff and I got a few good chuckles out of it. But I agree, go to a matinee.

Haven't seen the movie yet, but it looks cool. anyway, in reference to the giant man eating ostrich....it's not as far fetched as it may seem. Not sure if the time era is accurate as far as the movie is concerned...But there actually was a group of predatory birds in Prehistoric times referred to as " Terror Birds ". Some were really large, active predators. Some Phorusrhacidae were as large as 10' tall.....And I think at least one north american species only went extinct about 15,000 years ago. Anyway...just thought it was cool that they put one in cause I've always been Intrigued by the Terror birds....and of course they put a saber tooth in it...lol :crazy02:

But Apocalypto made you forget the historical inaccuracies- if you were even aware of them- by being such a spectacular film. The characters seemed real, they didn't speak English, there were humorous moments which did not make the characters seem stupid- I actually cared when they got killed.

Only problem is they lived in Madagascar...
