I have my 18 mo. old 50gram corn 'sunny' who started looking and acting like she might be going into Blue on the 23rd (last tuesday night) and I fed her with no problem the next night at 8:30pm which is her normal day/time. The next night on the 25th her eyes were very cloudy and skin color began dulling while she was hiding almost all day and night now.
On the 28th her right eye started to look a bit more cloudy then the left one. I left her alone on the 29th except for misting the viv. This afternoon I lifted up the hide she was under and her right eye was twice the size of the left and was almost white and not cloudy like the other. I called the local vet that deals with reptiles and got her in 40 minutes later.
The vet said she might have scraped her eye on something trying to remove shed. The vet gently used a Q-tip tip remove the right eye cap, which looks almost normal now, and gave me an antibiotic eye drop to apply twice a day for 5 days after shed. The thing is I think she was still in "blue" at the time, if so would she really have been trying to actually get the skin off already? I was under the impression they go blue, clear up, THEN shed? Is Sunny just too eager to shed? or am I just being too paranoid? just don't want my snake to end up with some type of infection =(
viv temps...
85.5 hot side on glass
76 cool side on glass
55% humidity while shes shedding
