2011 successful Hypo Lav breeding.

Arpolis

Corn Snake Breeder
I wanted to share that Pillow case and Amadalla my Hypo Lav het diffused male and Lav het Hypo female have successful copulated as of last night 02/20/2011. I will re-introduce every other day in between feedings for just a few more times to make sure but they where at it a long time last night so things look good.

I tried to get pics of them last night but all the pics turned out terrible so here are some photos of just them.

Congratulations! I think most people let the male recover a little longer- about a three day interval seems to be the average. I can't think of anyone who does every other day. He needs to recharge!

Well, I've been known to keep the pairs together for a few days (too much else to do in too short a time to separate them sooner) and when they are in full breeding mode, the male will mate daily. But yes, I do put them together again in 3 or more days just to be sure, but sometimes I can't do that as the male needs to go with another female, and if that's the case, I give him a week to recharge.

Ok well let me reiterate. At 0330 in the morning barely awake I said every other day but in my mind I was thinking like 2 or 3 day rests in between introductions. I appreciate the feedback and will use a 3 day rule. Honestly next intro will prolly be Friday due to feeding day coming soon.

Sorry I have not posted lately but I have been busy with a remodel on the home and I am a new father to my beautifull daughter Magenta! But sinse the first hookup I have had two successful Hookups on Fridays & one more last tuesday. Can't wait for eggs!

Congrats (on both the pairing and the new baby!!)

I'm glad that male is breeding well for you. And if you've had three hook- ups that should have gotten it done - another month or so until you should have eggs!

Congrats on the baby! When I was up at odd hours feeding and cuddling I ended up writing over a hundred pages on one of my stories, so if you can balance your life around the newborn amazing things can be accomplished. Remember they are only tiny for such a little time, so enjoy the infant phase and hold her as much as you can.

I hope your clutch gives you everything you want.

Pre lay shed 2 days ago and I have the lay box in place and she is loving to hang out in there with just her head poking out of the small entry hole. Any guesses as to when you all think the laying will begin?

Laying happens anywhere from just after the shed to as late as 21 days later on the extreme end from what I have read. Be patient she will lay when she is good and ready. If I were you I'd grab a favorite drink and put on a good movie anytime you get antsy lol.

New eggs! New eggs! As of today 12 days after pre-lay shed we have a proud mother of 17 pearly whites with absolutely no slugs! I guessed it would be today because this morning was the first time I noticed Amadalla actually moving around the substrate rather than sleeping on top. I am on the iPhone now so when I get a chance at my computer I will post a new thread with pics of the egs and the home made incubator.
