3 pinkies?

so Charlie is weighing in at about 17 grams and according to the Munson plan i should feed him 2 pinkies that weigh 3grams to equal 6 grams total. i weighed the pinkies i have and they all seem to be 2grams each. so my question is should i try and give him 3 pinkies so he eats his 6 grams of nutrition?

I'd stick with two until he is further over the snake weight requirement. Are you feeding at a five day interval?

^^^ exactly. You run the risk of a pinkie spoiling in the snakes gut. Then the dreaded regurge..... Rather feed a little less than too much....

yes with the 5 days. i just didn't know if those 2 grams would make a big difference. or i could look for some bigger pinkies.

The Munson plan lists pink as 2-3g. Don't worry about your pinks not being 3g, if he's digesting two fine for now keep him on that til he's ready for fuzzies.

When feeding 2 pinkies, should each pinkie be roughly 1X the diameter of the snake?

When I feed a baby snake, I get a bunch of pinks, like 25-50. Divide those into three groups, small, medium, large. I start out choosing small pinks and gradually increase the size. After I get to large, and the snake's weight is slightly above the Munson Plan weight for double pinks, I change to the two smallest pinks there are, and then use up the pinks, gradually increasing the size. I will do the same thing with fuzzies- I like it when I get a bag with a nice variety of sizes. I start with the peach fuzzies and slowly increase the size. I won't feed a growing cornsnake two fuzzies (or larger) though; I'll move up to the smallest I can find of the next size up. If you have extra pinks or fuzzies, save them for the next baby, or for an adult who is going through a picky stage.

To answer your question, I would say start off with two pinkies that are smaller than the diameter of the snake.
