A potentially good idea? (portable heating system)

Hi,

I live 8 months of the year in one house and the other 4 in another. One is in Canada, the other the states so and I don't go back and forth much. I would like to built a rack someday, but it will be hard and heavy to move.

So I was thinking, would be it possible to built a heating system (like the back panel of a regular rack) that isn't actually attached to permanent shelves? The heat-tape could run down the back wood piece and be pushed against a table (with the snake bins), when needed? If that didn't provide enough heat, I guess you could lie the board horizontally and rest the bins on top.

I'm horrible at wood shop and have zero knowledge of DIY projects....so feel free to tell me if this is a completely stupid idea! :blowhead:

Seems like it would be workable. I'm not an expert by any stretch, but I don't know why it wouldn't work. Just be sure the pegboard is able to be heated without fire danger.
Let us know how it goes, and good luck!

I like your little snake in terrarium sketches. :)

I don't see why it wouldn't work. Would make things easier if you ever had to replace the heat tape for any reason. The only thing I can think of is depending on the size of the bins and the room temperature, you might want belly heat over back heat.
