I don't know for sure, not having owned one, but I've heard several people say that blood reds tend to be more defensive than some other corns. I don't have any really defensive kids, although I do have some nervous ones that aren't comfortable being handled by anyone but myself and my husband.
He wasn't defensive, but my blizzard was a super spazz as a hatchling, he would leap into thin air attempting to evade being picked up. He is a bit over a year now and has calmed down considerably.
