Airport Security - Too much?

Dynamite, lol I guess some poor airport guy is going to have to be brave enough to find out. I don't see this policy lasting long- pat downs are invasive and won't catch weapons placed in body cavities. The scanners while scary with the whole idea of radiation at least don't require a free feel up, but I can't believe the government can't figure out a better way to go about this.

I'm sure the government could find a better way to make flying safe, but this is a better way to keep eroding our constitutional rights and get people used to doing everything the government says..."to keep us safe". The more of this we accept, the closer we get to a totalitarian society, or a police state.

Just bury your head in the sand and say;
it's for our own good...
it's for our own good...
it's for our own good...
it's for our own good...
it's for our own good...

I don't necessarily disagree, but terrorism is a threat to not only our airports, but train stations, bus depots, and other forms of transit. I don't like the invasion of my rights any more than most believe me I'm a small government kinda girl, and I would like an explanation of why other forms of transportation are not as closely monitored. In the end I don't see these pat downs lasting long though it's only a matter of time before someone screams sexual harassment and slaps a lawsuit on the TSA:)

There are more security systems in place than people realize for
Amtrak passengers, they just don't inconvenience the passengers
as much.

So you're saying they're more concerned with actual security, and not the illusion of security. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that the security measures you can see are always easiest to find a way around.

That is the goal anyway..
hard to avoid something if you don't
know who is doing it, where it's being done
or how its being done

Danielle, if they decline the "Nekkid Scanner".....does that mean you could use your shineh badge to conduct a pat up/pat down manual search?

Man arrested after ejaculating during TSA pat-down

A 47 year old gay man was arrested at San Francisco International Airport after ejaculating while being patted down by a male TSA agent. Percy Cummings, an interior designer from San Francisco, is being held without bail after the alleged incident, charged with sexually assaulting a Federal agent.

According to Cummings’ partner, Sergio Armani, Cummings has “multiple piercings on his manhood” which were detected during a full body scan. As a result, Cummings was pulled aside for a pat-down. Armani stated that the unidentified TSA agent spent “an inordinate amount of time groping” Cummings, who had apparently become sexually aroused. Cummings, who has a history of sexual dysfunction, ejaculated while the TSA agent’s hand was feeling the piercings. The TSA agent, according to several witnesses, promptly called for back up. Cummings was thrown to the ground and handcuffed.

A TSA spokesperson declined to comment on this specific case, but said that anyone ejaculating during a pat-down would be subject to arrest.

WikiLeaks to release Percy Cummings arrest documents

Hours before being place on Interpol’s most wanted list, Julian Assange announced that WikiLeaks was going to release thousands of documents related to the recent arrest of Percy Cummings, who is charged with sexually assaulting a TSA agent during a pat-down.

Cummings is currently being held in Federal custody without bail. According to Assange, the documents will identify the alleged victim of the assault, as well as a pattern of official misconduct by him. The leaked documents state that male TSA agents have reported being sexually harassed by the alleged victim. He is also said to have used his agency seniority to be assigned exclusively to pat-down duty of male passengers. Several of his colleagues have also expressed disdain with the enthusiasm he has shown performing the pat-downs.

Assange claims that the leaked documents “will lead to the shut down of the TSA.” Calls and emails to the TSA asking for comment on the release of these documents have not been returned, however the TSA has stated that they are currently investigating the leak of the Percy Cummings arrest documents.

Citing the imminent demise of the TSA, Assange claims that the incident leading up to Cummings’ arrest would be “the shot heard around the world.”

Markus, I can't decide whether to give you rep, or deduct it.

Where I, believe it or not, have drawn a personal line beyond which I will not tread to creep people out,....you have obviously marched straight on into that realm.

My favorite part is...
...according to several witnesses,...

Markus, that is crazy. They arrested a guy with a disorder for sploogin on another guy while being "patted" down.... and for sexual assault no less! That is laughable, seeing what they do to kids and adults during those pat downs, it is no wonder there aren't a few hundred thousand lawsuits against them already.

Wow! I think they ought to drop that one as fast as they can. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd think there would be a great many angry people if they made that charge stick. Most people's understanding of sexual assault is that the one initiating the encounter is generally the one at fault.

I freaking hope so,lol I here men can only feel up men and women other women....maybe I should get my bro a job though:D,lol So far no scanners seen at my job and no word of them being installed any time soon. However, they already search every bag, keys, the insides of cell phones, shoes, and of course make you go through a scanner that is not of the nekkid capacity.

His last name is Cummings:roflmao: Sorry had to point that out,lol So this guy with an obviously easily stimulated libido is being held without bond because a TSA over grouped his manhood? I had no clue orgasms were not supposed to happen in those situations- I and many others have apparently been doing it wrong for a long time:rolleyes:

The problem I see with this is we are humans with organs that are stimulated by touch among other senses. Arousal upon touch of said organ is supposed to illicit this response and therefore can not legally be assault- it's natural, was not intended to damage the agent, and caused no harm. One can not help becoming aroused and I'm sure this incident was embarrassing for this poor guy....I feel sorry for him. How did this agent not notice said organ becoming happier than normal? At that point if he was so uncomfortable and felt like he was being assaulted why not call for help? I don't see those charges sticking!

Well that suck!!!

Maybe if they reversed it people wouldn't have such a problem with it!!

I am actually one of those chicks that prefers a male doctor so I fully agree. Being heterosexual the sight of freshly polished fingernails near any of my womanly parts is not welcome. Of course many many women would disagree so I get the rule. However, here we have a case where the person being groped is now being charged with sexual harassment for his bodies natural response. Next we are going to be asked our sexual orientation before pat downs- ridiculous:(
