Animal Plastics Economy Plastic Rack Review

I was not a fan of racks. I bought all locking kritter keepers.(awhile back when I started getting snakes) But have been thinking of a rack system lately to move things around and make more room. I really like the way yours looks. Might have to look into Animal Plastics soon.:spinner:

I have four AP racks and I love them. I needed two more, so I decided to go with the economy plastics series. They're building me two 1754-10 shelf units. I realize that they won't hold heat and humidity quite as well as the regular units, but I'm going to use them for adult males that I want to keep a little cooler than everyone else. :)

So I got this e-mail from UPS today, with a tracking number. I didn't order anything! Wait, it's my second rack!!!

I'll pay anyone $20 to come melt the freaking holes in the bins for me...

My living room is going to be so HOT!!!

Congratulations on the second rack Nanci, the first looks fantastic by the way. I'm not a fan of racks but yours is lovely, I know you always pay care and attention to the appearance of cover for the snakes :)

Right, about this $20...

Cost of flight (return) - Heathrow to Miami: £534.20

Okay Nanci, if you give me $1080, I'll come and melt holes in your new bins :grin01:

Hrm, do you think draping a heavy blanket over the rack could help? I've been thinking this myself. Unfortunately the room I'm putting my new economy rack in will be a bit colder than the room I have main rack in. I'm using the same Proportional Thermostat for both racks.. so this might be a problem. I may end up moving both racks into the same room if the temperatures vary too much. I still have a list of things to do before I can even test out temps in the other room though, which include,
1) acquiring a second probe
2) taking apart the right back pieces and putting them on CORRECTLY =0
3) successfully applying the heat tape.

That's the part I hate the most, putting the heat tape in! It was actaully going a lot easier in the economy rack, however I realized after a few rows that I had mistaken the "back right" piece for the "back side" piece.

I got my second rack yesterday, and took about 30 minutes to set it up and 30 minutes to install the heat cable. I took a bunch of pictures, but my network stopped working, so I couldn't do anything with them. Cherry the Miami has been blue for a week, and I swear she hurried up and shed when I got home just so she could supervise the rack assembly. She is the nosiest thing ever! Now I just have to melt the dang holes...The bins seem to fit a little tighter- I'm sure the babies will be able to move right in when they outgrow their 10 gallons.
