Animal Plastics racks?

AliCat37

Michelle's Candied Corns!
Anyone use the AP Iris CB70 racks for the 41 quart tubs?
I am thinking of ordering one (mostly because my ball python keeps having bad sheds and I feel that he is most likely stressed from the 4x2 cage :( and won't eat). Besides this gives me more room for corns! Any way, I am opting to buy versus building my own because these come with heating (as far as I understand) and will overall be a better choice for me-I can't build things. I'm just looking for opinions of them and experiences. I am thinking of getting the 5 tubs one. Thanks!

So it turns out that I'm not sure if that rack uses sterilite bins, the links to the places to buy the tubs is not working. In which case, I'd opt to go with the 1860/1960 rack for 6 tubs. I just would like to be able to find the tubs easily.

Wow. I need to contribute so I can edit. I found the first one but with sterlite tubs. So.. ignore second post.

Sorry I can't help you with AP review, I do however have a RhinoRaXX. Since I swtched to that my snakes' sheds have been a lot better than when I had critter cages. The ones I have use sterilite tubs. So there are probably similarities.

Thanks, I'll check that out. It's only the ball python I have issues with. The boa and corns never have had issues no matter where I've put them. I just thought that a nice big decorated viv would be nice for my ball :( Guess I was wrong, so I'd definitely like to switch to a rack of some sort. Like I said- gives me more room for more corns too!

I have an animal plastics rack on the way (the one that switches between 15 and 32 quart tubs) so I can't yet rate their actual racks, but I can say I am really happy with them as a company. I talked to the female owner on the phone, she was really nice and helped me with all my newbie questions. I've had several email conversations too (was considering splitting the heat into two sections, and had more newbie questions) and they have been really nice and professional.

They are absolutely swamped right now, and just had to reorder flexwatt (they ran out) so they are way behind on orders. I ordered one of the quick ship ones and its been more the 10 business days and it hasn't shipped yet due to the flexwatt issues, but they have been honest and upfront about the issue, so I'm not concerned. I'm sure you would be happy with them if you ordered a rack.

Thanks Alaya,
I was worried when I looked at the RhinoRaxx, I know that boaphile is a great company, but they've got terrible customer service, and customer service is definitely something I look at. Let me know how the AP rack works out for you and how it holds temps, I'll probably order one within the coming months.

I have two AP racks. One is an economy rack, the other a regular one. Both hold the 15/32qt tubs. Ali is wonderful! AP customer service is outstanding and their product is excellent. I wanted a different sized rack than they had on their site (less bin slots) and they were very accommodating. I dont mind the wait because its worth it!

Awesome! I was looking at the economy ones :) I want to be able to see my babies still, and I can always cover the top tub for my ball python if he feels the need to continue his bad sheds and poor appetite.

Resurrecting a dead thread because... I need to order a rack.

One critical question- what is the space between the tubs and the shelving?
I want to get one of the 10 tub sterilite economy racks and I need to know if a baby corn could escape. YES I know those tubs are HUGE for babies.

My concern is with self control, I'd have to fill empty tubs. I want to be able to put all my current snakes in there.

Any baby can escape out of most racks no matter what the manufacturer tells you. You tighten the rack up with either cardboard or rubber shelf liner under the bins until the snakes are too big to get out. I figure 100 grams or so.

Darn :(

I was hoping that they were like my boaphile rack. I can hardly get a piece of paper between them.

Guess I'll keep the mess of tubs around for another year or two.

Thanks for the input, Nanci!

I really doubt anything would escape from the RhinoRAXX. You literally can barely even slide a piece of paper between the rack and the tub.

What bins do they use? I had a horrible experience with Reptile Basics, Iris hatchling rack. My first hatchling EVER escaped!! And they had assured me that corn hatchlings couldn't get out. Now I buy rubber shelf liner and line the shelves with it, held down by aluminum tape. No one is getting out ever again!

They use a [FONT=Times New Roman, Times, serif]Sterilite # 1851 6 qt./5.7 L Shoe Boxes in the RhinoRAXX hatchling rack.

Do the Sterilite shoeboxes have the flip up latches, though, that you have to remove now, that leave a gap and two holes there, then? That's why I like Iris racks.
