Anyone converted a Home Depot type Tuff Shed into Snakeroom?

Serious Corn Addiction!
I have my snakes spread-out over 3 locations because no spare room at this time in my house. Thinking about building a Snakeroom in my backyard from a storage shed like sold at Home Depot. Thinking around 10' x 14'. Anyone ever done this? Any advise?:shrugs:

Thanks for any info!

I know someone who built an 10x12 foot shed with a sink. He got almost all the wood, windows and other supplies off Craigslist. It was left over from other people's home projects. He built it for dirt cheap and it is fantastic. Check Craigslist for supplies.

Seems that you would need Air Conditioning for those hot Texas months, right? Are you planning on running Electricity out there?

Yes, small window unit from Home Depot and also a heater for the cold winter we sometimes have.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing only thing is in Cali it gets cold in winter n can get up to the 90s in summer

From the home-built shed projects I've seen, a major addition is insulation to help stabilise the temperature. Plus of course critter-proofing.

If the shed is built like mine you can but you would have to probably sheetrock over the insulation tokeep it in place. My particular shed that i have is built just like a small room without the sheetrock in my house. It is actually called a barn storage shed. LOL

You can insulate sheds it just takes a lot of work and will eat up some of the space on the inside of the shed. I was looking at buying a shed and making it a feeder breeding room so they won't be in the house and easier to vent and get fresh air too. Never thought of it as a snake room.

I have this portable heat pump AC/heater in my bedroom. I haven't tried the heater yet- just the AC. I LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it.

It is nice because it has a programmable timer which repeats daily. It also restarts after a power loss. This is really nice. The one I have in my living room will not restart after a power failure, and while I can program it to start say 5 hours after I leave home, I have to remember to do this every day.

I think I got it in May?? It is worth its weight in gold! I haven't had a speck of trouble with it.
