Anyone heard of Ivomec?

"Ivomec" is one of many brand names for ivermectin, which is a dewormer used for cattle and swine, but also as a heartworm prevention and general dewormer in dogs (Heartgard and Iverhart both uses ivermectin as their active ingredient). It is also being used for mites in dogs. You need to be careful about the strength of the product you use and the dosage. It can also be used as a dewormer for reptiles and I did use it once on my entire collection. As for using it for mites in snakes, I'm not sure but would have to look it up in my reptile medicine books.

I was wondering that too, Susan. I use Ivermec blended with Pet Tinic to give our cats and dogs once a month, as it is the cheapest method (my vet mixes it up for me).

I've used it to deworm Chameleons. I've not heard of using it for external parasites.

I've talked to a couple people and they said it works wonders for mites, but to watch the dosage. Apparently it can also be injected, but that can cause organ failure. I also read an account where a guy used the injection on two of his corns, one died and the other went into a weird growth spurt (the snake is now 16 months old and 4 feet long, and chubby!)
