Anyone out there who breeds rats got any pictures or tips on their set ups. I currently breed mice quite happily but I am considering maybe breeding rats for my pythons.
 
have you thought about going with asf they are great for breeding but dont use plastic cause they love to chew
 
I have ASF's. there great. they are about like your mice in setup and care. They are also more of the ball pythons natural prey item....

how do you have them in the litterboxes green and blue and not chewing out? They have chewed the black plastic of my tanks? just wondering, oh and my set up is all aquariums with heavy duty lids
 
The Litterboxes actually have mice in them. The metal mess goes all the way to the outside of the cage and the lids fit so tight that they can not lift them so they can not chewing the sides is a hassle. The rounded smooth sides of the litter pans prevent them from chewing the corners and bottom.... I still have to post some rack pics....
 
I kept a couple of trios of ASF in kitty litter tubs for several months with no chewing. As long as it is smooth, and they have no access to any protrusions or inward curving areas, it is difficult for them to get started chewing the plastic. I now keep them in large, metal bins. But that is mainly because the tubs were too small.

As you can tell I am about to build another rack for under the shelf. The ASF's are in the big blk tubs. Mice are in the litter boxes.

I didnt take a pic of the other handful of tubs(lab cages) on a table to the left side of the room(aka mouse shed).

I found the plans for the rat cages online and motified them for the litter pans.
