Anyone want to try to explain this?

Headed for rehab.
I found this wrapped around a water bowl. It appears that while it was shedding it began to eat its own tail but probably just crawled though the mouth of the shed, still cool looking.

No explanation, my friend. But I had a pair of sibling Abbott's Okeetees once that obviously shed, and I only found a scrap of head-shed in one of their tubs to show for it...

I've kept track of sheds, and I swear that the distance between some sheds are either because I have forgotten to write them down (which is completely 100% plausible) or they have mysteriously disappeared (which I think is also possible because I'm not that forgetful!). I even think there was a thread around here once upon a time, ages (as in 2 years or so) ago that asked about them possibly eating their sheds once in a while. Maybe not on purpose, but happening none-the-less. I don't believe there was any concrete evidence of it either way.

Cool find!

I had a snake shed once and in the morning the shed and snake were gone. I think he got carried away and ate himself.

I have seen hatchlings eat thier shed and have seen snakes crawl into the mouth of their shed while they were still in the process. :) One even got stuck and I had to break him out. :p
