Back to black photography thread.

It's Jager time!
My favorite style of photography is monochromatic. I adore B+W shots. I have visions of this thread growing into a black and white picture fest, please oblige and post your best B+W shots!

I'll go first. Please name your camera kit and why you like the picture you are posting.

Nikon D40, 18-55mm nikkor lens

Slightly underexposed, but I thought the silhouette was a bold statement and well composed.

Oooooo, I can't do anything from work as they have photobucket blocked, but I have one or two to post this evening. I spent several hours yesterday walking around looking at our overflowing creeks and because the sky was so overcast, it didn't turn out very appealing... in colour... I like the ones that I did in B&W, which I love too :)

Thats what I love about b+w too, most of time when colour shots are way overexposed they make terrific mono shots.

My skills aren't as higly advanced as yours, Elle
and my camera-kit isn't really a kit, just a digital camera [Sony DSC-W55]

But I like taking pictures and B/W looks lovely.

Like the way you can see the little hairs on its legs, but not the web

Perfect unperfect mushroom + I like it when some parts are a bit blurry

I like how the lights fall in this one.

Really gorgeous shots, I love the spidie one!

It just goes to show you DON'T need a big fancy camera to take really lovely shots. A camera is only as good as the person behind it.

Okay, figured out how to attach things on here directly, so I can bypass the filter at work :D I'm using a new to me Cannon Rebel XT with just the standard 55mm lens.

Those swan pictures are lovely!! They are such elegant birds.

Thanks, just one bird though :) I'm not sure where it came from.. it seemed to show up a month or so ago... just the single one.

Found out that they arch those fingers when they feel threatened. If I was still, he'd relax and they would lay flat, but when I moved in a way he/she thought threatening, he'd make this noise deep in his throat and raise those feathers up... fasciating. I took a ton of pictures of him :)

Feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeathers... not fingers... sheesh, I really need to get me one of those edit buttons.

Strange that there is only one. Wonder if it lost its mate? Swans mate for life and you rarely find just one.

Some great shots! Esp. that one of the butterfly! But I don't think you told us what kind of camera you were using for them :)

Olympus C-5050 5.0 megapixel camera. Used to be one of the best around...now it's just archaic!

You forgot to tell us what kind of camera you are using :) That first shot is really wild. Care to explain the story behind it?

I love B&W pics. I have tons of them from everywhere we go. I could fill a book. I just use a Canon digital camera. Most of these are from local cemeteries, but the building and the dark hall are from Mexico.
