In Germany. I think it raises a lot of questions.

I saw the breeding pictures... Personally I hate it. I think its an abomination, almost as bad as royal/angolan crosses.

I couldn't agree more.

could someone clarify why its so bad for me please??

i dont really know about these things. :shrugs:

Well for a start, a potentially 18ft snake crossed to a 5ft (MAX) snake is messed up.

And maybe the fact they are from different ends of the world, and build for completely different environments.

As long as it doesn't hurt the parents and the offspring are healthy, don't see how it's any worse than crossing corns x kings or other such mixes. Not saying it's something I would do, just don't see how this can be any worse than some of the other accepted crosses that happen on a regular basis :shrugs:

Is it completely different. They are at opposite ends of the spectrum! At least with corns and kings they are similar in physical appreance and structure.

I dont like the idea of this cross, although I think it looks cool. I think most people are upset because of the potential defects that could arise from crossing such differences.

Breeding a corn to a king, or a milksnake...or a different ratsnake is completely different. Those are crosses that can and do potentially happen in nature...and crosses between animals with similar habits, body structures, and equipped to more or less thrive in similar environments.

But crossing two snakes that have very different needs, could potentiall spell dissaster for the offspring. Maybe not...but it just feels irresponsible.

Unfortunately, this just seems to be the way the hobby is moving. In recent months I have heard of:
BloodBalls(BloodxBall)
Wall Pythons(WomaxBall)
Carpondro(CarpetxGTP)
Borneo Bateater(RockXBurmese)
Terror(BurmeseXRetic, a man here in TN that owns one of our herp stores is trying to produced these)
BallXAngolan
Turbo Corns(Pit spXCorn)
ATBxETB(which looks really cool)
The new Ballnese python?
And I'm sure there are tons of other, why just recently some goon on another board asked about the possibility of crossin RTBs and Balls. As long as people are allowed to own more than one type of snake, people will try to get em to bump uglies just to see what they'll get.

Unfortunate to a point, but hey thats life/

What?????? Don't you have more than one?

I don't see anything wrong with it. Maybe we'll get a REAL Dwarf Burmese out of it! A Burmese that only reaches five foot? That's a dream come true for those that wan't one, but don't have the room...

I might be totally off base here (but I don't believe I am)...But crossing a Burm with a Ball Python wouldn't produce a "REAL" Dwarf Burmese. A Dwarf Burmese would be a Dwarf Burmese, not a Hybrid with another species.

Think about a Liger. Imagine how they feel. Tigers are solitary and Lions live in prides. Some bad psychological problems there. And that would never occur in the wild.

People have asked me if Ligers really do exist. Yeah, they do. Here's a bad picture of Hobbes that I took with a cell phone at the Reno zoo in Napa.

Sorry, by "Real" I meant really small, not genetically real...

You misunderstand me. I am not against crosses, I was just making the point that if the oppurtunity exists than people will try it, I meant no disrespect, and wouldn't dream of only owning one type of snake. I am currently looking into purchasing a Turbo Corn, and an Imperial Pueblan from shops here in town.

While that might be ideal for some while crossing species the genetics do not always come together as most would think. Take the Liger for example because it has already been braught in this disscustion. The Liger is larger then even the largest tiger, on average they grow to stand 10-12 feets on their hind legs and the largest non-obease liger weights over 1200 lb , much larger then any tiger or lion, so who knows? you could end up with a 37 foot 1000 lb monster! :eek1:
