Dazed and Cornfused
Why do we do what we do?
To all,
My suggestion is to just let your corns be! They will take care of all of their natural tasks without any outside help. I don't mean to sound overly harsh, but IMHO you are adding unnecessary stress to your snake.
Remember that reptiles are cold-blooded animals that require an external heat source in order to carry on normal biological functions. Temperatures are especially important for proper digestion. Forcibly introducing an unregulated temperature extreme, like bath water, may not be in the best interest of your pet. Remember that snakes thermo-regulate, which means that they change their location, on their own, to increase or decrease the ambient temperature. They have survived the ages using this method.
If you want to use a moist towel or give an occasional bath in order to maintain sanitary conditions, fine. But weekly or bi-weekly jaunts to the ol' water hole may be over doing it.
This is only my opinion of course. I have close to four dozen snakes that I care for. I have never given one a bath, "just because". Yet even without my intervention, they eat, poop, grow, and thrive. Does anyone else think that this as an unnecessary evil?? I'm really curious.
