Belly freckles and what they mean...

No, I'm not asking for my snake's fortune to be read :)

I just was curious and was unable to find any reference to this searching the threads. My amel male has bright orange/red freckles here and there over his belly. They have gotten more intense as he grows. I've been trying to determine his genetics as best I can - the only thing I know for certain is he is het striped (I've seen his siblings). But I now know that there are several varieties of amel, and was wondering if the freckles are indicative of certain morphs, or if any color morph can have them?

I don't have belly pics yet, I can get them in the next day or two if needed. I have pics of him in the Photo Gallery - Adonis and Dijibaba. The pics, while not as nice as I'd like, were pretty true to his color then. He's getting much oranger now.

Thanks, guys!

Belly checks are normally found in corn snakes. They are black in normals, but will basically match the color morph...pink/orange/red in amels, brownish/bronze in hypos, lavender in lavenders, etc. Many of the pattern morphs will have loose these checks, which helps to identify the morph...motley and stripe have plain white bellies, as do diffuse/bloodreds. These morphs can, and especially in the bloodreds, have the ground color "bleed" onto the white belly in various degrees.

Thanks, Susan!
His belly is white, with translucent checks. It was his orange speckles I was curious about. But if it's not uncommon for ground cover to bleed over, I guess it doesn't help ID anything about him :)

I have a motley who has lots of bleeding over and freckles on her underbelly, especially the closer you get to her tail. I think it's somewhat common.

My Amels have a little bleed over to. Its something that happens and yes as they get older it does seem to stand out more.
I bet you noticed them more as his/her orange started coming out more.... That what happens to mine....

Yeah, that's pretty much right on! I did notice them when I brought him home, but they kept getting brighter as he did. I'd like to figure out what type of amel he is too... When I got him I thought "amel. Pretty straight forward, right?" LOL. Not! He's looking like he'll have some really nice orange on him, so here's hoping!
