If anybody (Chip?) can tell me a little more about the 'type' of Okeetee I have, I'd be interested to hear, since I'd like to have a female that looks a lot like him. I want to maintain the colors and borders without sacrificing the mostly non-aberrant markings.

(Male Okeetee and Male Miami)

I think your best bet would be to buy a yearling or older. It's really hard to tell just how the hatchling will turn out. Very pretty snake!

Thanks, Chip. I saw him for sale on kingsnake and it turned out the seller lives in the same area. He eats with no problems and is also very tame. For the first month or so he hid almost all the time. Now he comes out occasionally. He likes to watch tv. I've heard people say some Love Okeetees can be nippy, but he has never been. He has a little orange on his belly, but nothing like your Rhett Butler. I guess you could say he has a lot of personality for a snake, although he is calm when being handled.

okeetee

I'm not much of a photographer, but what I lack in quality I make up for in quantity. These are all pics of Slick from the last 2 years or so.

Terri, yes, those are Widget's babies. Sigh. The female banded in the other set of pictures (the fourth picture) is also a sister and there is one more banded sister. Will be interesting to see what I get when I breed brothers & sisters together later on.

WOW Dianne! They are gorgeous! I also look forward to seeing the babies after these are old enough to breed!

Here's a cyber-hug for you! Stop beating yourself up about it!
