Boaphile vs Animal Plastics??

I am researching racks as I think it would be the best option for the amount of room I have, the temps in my house etc. Anyways, it looks like these two are the most logical (economical).

It looks like there are pros and cons with each. I was wondering what everyone else thought. Seems Boaphiles is more cautious with the heating, whereas AP says its not made to use for reptiles so no liability! Then there is the quality of the plastic with which they use to make the racks. Now sure which is better? AP doesnt come with the tubs, nor is shipping included (I dont think). If you all could help me with the pros and cons, personal experiences, it would be GREATLY appreciated. I need to decide soon! Thank you, Lindsay

ps. If you have pics that be great too! Or if you use some other company for your racks feel free to post your opinions etc.

pss. Gez I forgot alot in my post. Anyways if you know of a good link to make your own racks, I would like to see that too! If you have photos of homemade racks, feel free to post away! THANKS AGAIN!
 
I have no opinion on the actual product...

But if you want good customer service, go with AP [or most other cage/rack companies]...If you don't care if you don't receive your order for weeks upon weeks or that you can't get a hold of the cage builder, go with Boaphile.

I use Natures Spirit (www.nsreptiles.com) & Jungle Habitats Plastics (www.junglehabitatsplastics.com) for my rack/cage needs.

So boaphiles takes a long time and there is no customer service? That throws that idea out! Hmmmm.....I want a very durable plastic, not a cheap one. But I have no clue about what plastics are better, what thickness and so on. Hopefully someone who knows will see this :)
 
I fixed the link in my original post. It was picking up one of the characters I was useing for some reason.

Honestly, the plastic that was used on my NS Reptiles racks seems to be of lesser quality then the plastic used on my Jungle Habitats caging. I don't have any racks yet from JP [but have 2 customs on order - the Open Air Econo Racks, which I have convinced him to offer to the public], but considering the quality I received with my caging, I'm sure I will be just as pleased with my racks. I actually will be switching my cornsnakes to caging similiar to what I got for my boas (JP's "Quad Cages") and just keeping my Leos in rack systems.
 
I dont think I can afford Jungle habitats caging, not sure about the racks as they are only 27 qt and 3 slots high? This is frustrating. I thought boaphiles was a great option. With all the extra little features they have and many rack designs and sizes available. With lock and pin stacking. But if there is a long wait and no one to contact when issues arise, what good is buying from there! Many recommend AP, but I think the plastic they use is lesser quality and the econo rack looks to be the only one I can afford since shipping and tubs are not included.

Alan is out on a family emergency, but if you shoot him over an email with exactly what you need, he'll work up a quote for you. What's on his website are standard sizes, he will do custom too. The two racks I'm getting from him are twelve tubs each 15qt w/ boxes & heat in the Econo style for $215/each plus shipping. What I asked of him is to figure out how many tubs high he can safely make the racks without any structural issues and he came up with 12 total, so that's what I went with.

Right now he's also offering a 10% off coupon to the first 100 to register on the new site.
 
I just got an AP rack for Christmas. It's the best thing that's happened to my collection since I started ordering rodents online. :rolleyes:

I'm not sure if the economy rack is made of the same material, but the rack I have is very nice. The plastic is very thick, making the rack quite sturdy. The "not for use for reptiles" might be there because the racks don't come with a Proportional Thermostat. Without something to regulate the heat the racks aren't as safe for reptiles.

I definitely recommend AP!
 
I have some Animal plastics racks. They are extremely well constructed. The CDPVC material is a sturdy 1/2" so you don't have to worry about shelves sagging. The heat element is routed into the shelf itself (I went with belly heat vs. back heat). The tubs don't snag at all.

AP also has great customer service.
 
What do you do for tubs when ordering from AP? By the time you buy tubs, pay shipping on both the rack and tubs (I dont think AP sells the tubs), you are talking mega $$$! How does everyone afford it?
 
I do buy the tubs separately & pay S & H on them in addition to the rack.

I plan to have my corns for many, many years :) It is a significant investment of $, but I consider the $ well spent - It's a hobby I enjoy very much. I'm very happy with the sleek look of the rack & it makes their husbandry much easier. The material is more sanitary than wood or melamine as well (it does not absorb moisture.) It's also a fire resistant material.

I made my first 2 racks (1 adult, 1 hatchling rack) out of melamine. (adult Iris tubs 33 1/2" x 17 3/4 " 6") That adult rack is HEAVY!! I much prefer the CDPVC racks now.
