Burning insence or Oils.... bad for snakes?

I burn both in my room, which is also shared by my creatures... ive stopped insence now as im worried about the effect of smoke... but now moved over to my oils.... but is the smell going to bother them?

I have done the same thing - I haven't noticed that my snakes are bothered, but I don't burn it for long, and I don't do it often. Also the oil diffuser is across the room from my snakes.

Same as Eriathiel, I burn them across the room. I've wondered about this too and I just end up putting a towel on top of screen. I don't know if it does anything, but it at least makes me feel like not as much smoke/oil stuff will get in the cage. :shrugs: Not sure if I'm actually helping though.

I know that it is strongly recommended NOT to burn scented candles nor use glad plug in air fresheners directly around birds. I would assume that the same is true for reptiles being as they also have a fairly delicate respiratory system. How that interprets over to burning incense, I don't know, but while I love incense and scented candles, I shy away from them. My wife does burn them (candles) in the living room, and I have seen no ill affects in my snakes two rooms over. :shrugs:

Well, snakes only have one working lung, and they never have 100% oxygenated blood in circulation due to their three-chambered heart- so I'd probably not burn anything around them.

Interesting topic dont you think? When I do I open all my windows to keep the air going around and I usually burn oils as smoke doesnt seem like a good idea.

I don't know about oils and incense, but we won't use any sprays (fly spray or air freshener) in the area that the snakes are in now, I just don't think it's fair on them.

We don't burn incense or oils, and the air fresheners aren't sprayed near the snake racks. I don't know if it will harm them or not, but I figured the smell might upset them or annoy them because it's such a strong smell and I always figured it would interfere with the snake's sense of taste.

I've burned insence and candles in the living room that is right next to the room where I keep my snakes. I always have the fan going so it's never a thick smog; just something to freshen up the place and have noticed no ill effects at all. I wouldn't burn it right next to their cage or anything, but if you're smart about it, should be ok.
