Cage Size for 58" cornsnake?

I just moved MAXX up to a larger cage about a year ago. He seems to get spend a lot of time looking for a way to get out - checking the glass, checking the room, etc... he is about 3-4 yrs old and 58" long.

His cage is 12x12x30" glass reptile enclosure. I noticed petco now has a size even larger and was wondering if maybe I need to move up in size?

I've read several different "Rule of thumbs" on that, the one I use is, that the cage must be half the length of the snake, length wise. So using that one you still have a bit more than two inches for your snake to grow before you really need to get him a bigger tank. However, since he's so close if I had the money & space to get him the bigger one right now, that's what I'd do. Hope that helps!

Do you mean a 12" wide by 30" long by 12" high???
Either way, it's still seems too small for me. I would upgrade.
When shopping, look more for "floor space" than height.

Good Luck.

yes, it is 12" wide, 12" high, 30" long...

I seem to remember somewhere reading the snake should be able to stretch out using two sides of the cage - Maxx cannot do that...

I use the "as big as I can fit in my lounge" rule for my adults!

Stretching out using two sides of the enclosure is the guide I've always seen as well. Sounds like Maxx is due an upgrade.
