Calling all crested gecko ppl!!! Show yours off!!!

Here are my crested geckos, Flame and Artemis. Flame is my mother's gecko and Artemis is mine. Flame is the darker of the two. Both females by the way.

Pretty girls! Flame has awesome crests and I really like the light outline on Artemis's crests.

I guess this is stupid, but I didn't realize how big crested geckos are! That makes them a lot more appealing! Do you guys feed them that pre-made crested gecko diet or something else? Are they fairly quick-moving/active or will they sit still in your hand?

While there are still some who refuse to use the Meal Replacement Powder, MRP or CGD, it's gaining acceptance as the best thing to feed as the basis of their diet. Lots of keepers do supplement with either crickets or dubia roaches, usually not reccomended more than once a week and I think most do it every two weeks, that I've talked to. I feed mine crickets occasionally but right now only 3 of my adults will eat them, haven't tried with my new male. The 3 juvies I still have at the moment won't touch crickets. Two of their clutch mates would and did grow a bit faster than the others. That is one possible benefit to feeding bugs, some maintain it helps with growth of young geckos but other people have said they don't see a difference. Since I hate crickets, I love the fact that they don't really require them.

Activity and docility depend on the gecko. Some are very calm and some very flighty. The young ones generally explore more, will walk all over your hands and jump frequently but adults will usually be content to mostly sit still. My two females and the new male are really calm and easy to handle but Miami is quite flighty and I don't handle him much at all.

Well Tavia beat me to the punch in my own thread...lol....but yea most just feed their cresties CGD and fruit baby food mixed with supplements. I also feed small crickets to my adults once a week and pinheads to my babies/sub-adults. Mine love papaya, banana and peach baby food the most.

Most of my adults are very calm and eat out of my hand. Except my patternless female, she is psycho!! and like Tavia said my subs and my babies love to explore and jump all over the place.

I love my cresties!!:bird:

Toothless would like you all to know that, despite the fact that he is not a crested gecko, his frill should count as a crest and that he should be included in this thread. (Though I really do want a crestie!)

Lol, "why so serious?" Was the first thing that came to mind.

Those cresteds are amazing! I am sure one day when I have more space I will have to get a couple.

LOL he is always angry. He's just mad because he's the only lizard in the household... until a crestie makes its way here! I may pick one up at the expo next week.

Anyway, the geckos (and the frilled lizard) are extremely cute. Perhaps in the future after much research I will acquire one. :)

I feed Repashy crested gecko diet and insects when I have them. My guy, the adult Slayer, he's actually bigger than normal. He gets a thin layer of CGD mixed up and placed in a Gatorade bottle cap every night that he usually eats, and a few insects every few weeks. He's pushing 50 grams and is full grown, and as he's not a female that needs lots of calcium, he just doesn't need the insects too much.

The little guy gets bugs as often as I feel like when I have them. I hand feed him CGD every 2-3 days, and he usually eats about four times what I give Slayer. He's not eating too much since it got cold though.

Cresties are also a slower growing gecko, taking as short as around a year to grow to up to 2-3.

Thanks! That picture doesn't show his stripes too well. Here's one that shows them off better. I was hoping to get a shot of him licking his eyeballs, but this tongue shot was the best I could do.
