Hi all, I have posted 2 pictures of our most recent hatchling, and would like you all to guess what morph it is! :shrugs:

We know what morph its supposed to be but when comparing to other pictures of this morph, it looks nothing like them. So would like some opinions off others without you knowing what the parents genetics were, and if someone mentions the morph it is supposed to be then i guess it is that one lol :grin01: If not then the parents may be Het more genes then we knew about :crazy02: If that makes any sense :grin01:

She is a bright pink colour all over with no patterns whatsoever and no patterns on her underside either. (No chequers)

I would have to say either...snow or blizzard...If it turns out to be amelanistic or creamsicle I would be very shocked..lol...but snow and blizzard are my two choices..there's always that morph called "bubblegum" but this would be the most pinked out morph I have ever seen....

Oh sorry, reread your post! lol Never mind about the parent thing! lol

But it looks alot like some Blizzards my friend hatched out at the beginning of the year! lol

I'm not going to follow the crowd and instead guess a vanishing stripe snow. However, since you did say it didn't look like others of it's morph, I'll make a second guess at opal (that head is pinker than I would expect a snow or a blizzard).

I'm with Susan on the vanishing stripe idea. I'm gonna' go with opal stripe or blizzard stripe. :shrugs:

I'd agree with the stripe idea...which will account for the checkerless belly. I'd probably say either opal (since the one pic is very pink) or snow (since the other pic isn't as pink).

...and the parents are...???

Ok then, so here we have it.....

The Parents were bought as Amelanistic Het Lavenders....

Which would make this an Opal, however as I said earlier, I have compared it to other pics of Opal hatchlings and cannot find one that looks alike.....

We have contacted the breeder who we bought them off to hopefully find out if they had any poss hets, such as Charcoal, which would make it a blizzard if they were carrying this gene.

However i have found a few sites that mention that on some ocasions the Opals can be very white - almost like blizzards, so i'm guessing it is one of these Opals.... Which are Called...

'Pearl Snows'

Here are a few more Pics of some of the clutch...... We are still waiting on another few to hatch...

What do you think the Third Picture is of... an Amel or an Opal, because we aren't sure when comparing it to other pics, and until the whole clutch has hatched we wont know :shrugs:

thanks for all your responses. :grin01:

Amel - it actually looks like it will be pretty orange but then again it's easier to see true colors after their first shed. Are you sure there aren't any belly checkers? I thought I could see a faint pattern on that first pic but it could be the lighting or internal organs showing through. Be sure to post pics after they shed!

Third pic is amel... and with those genetics expect 1/4 opal 3/4 amel... of course some of those amels will be het for lavender also. As far as no belly pattern, double check after the first shed, a snake that is so pinkish-white like that may hide belly patterns well. My hypo lavs have a "vanishing" belly pattern which is white in the middle and visible on the outside edges of the belly.

BTW, check to see if the parents are het stripe or motley to produce patternless bellies. LOL

As soon as the breeder of the parents gets back to us we will have a clearer picture of what it could be, if its not an Opal that is....

I certainly hope he tells us they were het for stripe also...lol

That would be a superb bonus! :santa:

Thanks again for your opinions.... We thought the third one was an Amel but when comparing it to another Opal Hatchling picture it looked very similar. But as you say, its best waiting for them to shed.

We have had 6 hatch so far and we have had 3 of each, so 50/50 so far... so not bad going :crazy02:

Ok, its all become a bit clearer now....

The breeder has got back to us and says that the pair we had off him could also be Poss Het Anery, and Poss het Caramel...

And weve had a couple more hatch which look like snows so it looks like they were both het anery also....

Which means from the 16 eggs we should get...

9 Amels (66% Poss Het Anery, 66% Poss Het Lavender)
3 Snow (66% Poss Het Lavender)
3 Opal (66% Poss Het Anery)
And 1 Snopal!

So i would say the pink snakes are the Opals I think. :shrugs:

So well done to all who guessed Opal. ( If thats what they are lol...!)
Beautiful Snakes they are too!

Cant wait to see what they look like once they have shed! :licklips:
