Coaxing out of small spaces

well good luck(you could always say your bombing for the snake but do it for fun if it's not in there)

When bass-heavy music that vibrated the entire car, tapping all over the inside of the frame with a hammer, and a car wash didn't work I decided that perhaps setting off a baking soda bomb underneath the car wouldn't have quite the desired effect. I've had a couple encouraging messages about snakes turning up weeks after they disappeared, thank you Emanon for your story of how my girl's mother was lost in your car for 6 weeks... apparently its genetic. So I decided that so long as I can keep the car from freezing overnight she should be alright and may just turn up in a couple of weeks asking me why I haven't fed her recently. Still leaving out water and masking tape traps but going to only put out a mouse in a bottle once or twice a week.

Thank you everyone for your advice and support. I'll let you all know if something particularly encouraging, or discouraging, happens.

If you do the car wash method you might wanna have someone watching from outside the wash to make sure she doesn't manage to escape and take off!
Agreed.
ummmmmm if you take the car to the car wash and she's to close to something hot or electrical then couldn't she die...If noise does make the snake come out can I suggest this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHqfgT4XVps but remember be safe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!If you do this right it is quite loud
Hmmmm......

I've been following, Onarian, and I'm still hoping for a positive resolution.

That blue tape that 3M makes for masking/painting is not as sticky, comes off of stuff easier. Available where paint is sold.

I had this happen once. I found him under the carpet in the back seat. I hate to ask, but when you were at the dealership did they pull up the carpet? Since it is new, I would have them do it so it can be fixed at the same time.

How much did it cost to have them pull up the carpet? I'll look into this tomorrow. Its been over a week now with no luck.

great update!

Put out a mouse in a bottle again tonight for the first time since mid-last week. The good news is Cassi ate it. The bad is that she didn't get trapped in the bottle and somehow managed to not get stuck on any of the masking tape around the bottle either. So, I put out more masking tape and now that I have a better idea of where she is tomorrow I'm going to take the car over to the dealer again and see if we can get under the back seat.

Good to hear she is at least still in the car! Good luck with getting the carpet pulled up!

Let me clarify. I recommended the dealer do it because I did NOT have a dealer do it and pretty much destroyed the carpet around the edges. I am assuming you do not want that to happen. Thus, the suggestion.

I can't believe she got out of the trap!! I actually can't believe she even went into it...I wonder if you make the neck of the bottle stick further in- if it would be harder to get out.

I laughed a bit when i read that lol :)

But congrats and i hope you get her... now that you mention taking out the back seat, that is a great idea. never thought of it, but at least you know she is still in there. Good luck and i'll keep following the progress ;)

9 days after the last sign of her and trying a slightly different trap. This time I cut both the top and the bottom off of the 2liter, taped the top back on inside out and taped the bottom to a milk jug with its top cut off. Hopefully this will put the mouse a bit further from the entrance and provide her enough room to eat inside and get trapped. Crossing my fingers!

No news, she hasn't shown any interest in the larger bottle trap. Haven't seen any sign of her since she ate the mouse two weeks ago.

Oh man I really hope she turns up and she is staying warm enough. Maybe she decided to hibernate. :shrugs: I really feel bad for both of you.
