Cold Hearted? Pets to food?

I would have to say that I aggree with what everyone has mentioned so far, but Tyflier sums it up nicely!. The thing is that youll have to get rid of them somehow, you wouldnt keep a dog as a pet if its gnawing the hell out of you and the rest of your family, would you?

Let me put it in perspective for you;
Besides having 2 lovely corns, I also have 2 beautiful blood pythons that love nice sized rats!So I went to the petstore yesterday to get 2 servings of "rat-ala-supper" for the bloods!I asked for the rats and went to storeroom to choose my rats like always ,but they only had too small or too big sized rats!,the lady at the front desk told me that she had 2 jumbo hamsters that were too old to breed and that she wants to get rid of these two, seeing as they would be used as snake food and not as pets, I would actually be doing her a favour as she didnt have the heart to just kill them! In the end I was happy,she was happy and the snakes.........well.....they just liked the variety!

I would suggest sell/donate them to someone who`ll put them to good use!It might seem unfair but hey, thats life!And dont hate yourself for it!, at least you tried your best!:)
 
The way I see it is that if you put it up for adoption it might get picked up for well snake food, so if the rat has a good chance of ending up as a meal anyways, Id rather either keep it as a pet or keep it for my own snake.
 
UPDATE****
Well I found someone who wanted them as feeder breeders, and I traded them for two sweet rat does...a black and a black hooded. They are sweet and adorable, and DONT bite, and the other person is happy because he now has an fun color to play with in his breeding lines. So horray for all. :crazy02:
 
hmm...

I would breed them and feed the babies to your snakes, or just get rid of them if they are that nasty/mean. I don't think you are mean for thinking that, it's no use having a pet that you hate and it hates you lol:laugh01:

You can always cut them up and feed them to a bunch of different snakes. I had to do that once because I didn't get my mouse order in before Christmas and had to wait awhile for it to come. It was kinda nasty, but do able.

I think that rats from pet stores are the absolute worst socialization wise. I've found that rat babies that were born with me that I could socialize from birth turned into good pets, but their pet store parents were just down right evil and pretty much hopeless. Not only did they bite, but were EXTREMELY fast. A rat in your snake's belly is much better than an escaped rat in your house.
