Colonel Slithers Jun '08 Abbott's Okeetee - Progression Thread!

The Colonel weighed in at 72 grams today and 26" long. Growing nicely... I guess he is technically a yearling now.

I am up to feeding him an 8 g hopper & 4 g fuzzy now for dinner, since he falls within the "9-12 g" range on the Munson plan.

After hoppers, I'm not sure where to find weanlings. I may have to just keep feeding him two food items to get the proper weight. Petco doesn't have many choices, and I don't know where else I can go to just buy, say, 5 or 10 of a food item instead of bulk (ie 50).

Here are a few pics, cause what is an update without pictures!

Nice pics!
Unfortunately, I am having the same problem as you with finding the weanlings!
My petco only carries pinks, fuzzies, and adults.
Today I went to a local fish/reptile store to get some mice, and I gave him a list of what I needed, one of them being a weanling...well I get rung up and as I'm walking out I was looking at the receipt and noticed they gave me a weanling RAT! I was like yikes I don't have anything that can eat this! So I had to get a small adult instead...(And the prices at both that store and petco are outrageous! I paid $22 today for 7 pinks, 2 hoppers, and 1 small adult!...and that's just enough to feed my snakes for one week!) I can't wait till I am finally able to order from some place like RodentPro!
But yeah, sorry I kinda went off track...didn't mean to hijack or anything!
Your snake is looking mighty good! I esp. like the first picture with him poking his head out of the top of his substrate!

Thanks for the update!

yeah what are we people without tons of snakes supposed to do for food?!?

$22 is ridiculous for what you got there.

my petco has hoppers, but what i just found out with this scale is that the mice i've been feeding are on the small side.

I told ya that you'd love an Abbott's from Lee! Aren't they just the most beautiful snakes? I am so happy he is doing well and looking AWESOME!!! Hmmm...I think mine is due a photoshoot!!!

For Admitchell08, you need to go by Fish Pros. They have several sizes of mice. While definitely not cheaper than mail order (probably quite a bit more expense), I buy all my mice from them for the convenience of being able to select the size I want.

Oooh guess who just shed again?!

Here is the Colonel pre & post shed...he is officially now a yearling & weighed in a few weeks ago at about ~80 g.

I tried to put him in a blue bowl, but not many pics came out since he was so squirmy!

He's too heavy to be able to get across this without falling, yet he continuously tries:

Gorgeous, just gorgeous!!!

I need to get some good ones of Flash. Getting the lighting right makes all the difference. That blue bowl was a pretty good trick too.
