I finally loaded my disk for my new digital and took some shots of Sheamus, the new corn, I found at the pet store. So what do you all think?

Is he:
A - Snow
B - Opal
C - some other morph?

Can't wait to find out what everyone thinks now with these new pictures that actually show his colors.

Wow, much better pics!!! It looks snow-like to me. There may be hets involved though... :shrugs:

Thanks so much, I couldn't load the actual pictures I took, I had to resize them and it somewhat obscures the faint purple color that he has between the saddles.

Here is a close up of his colors. I hope this works, crossing my fingers!!

Yes, now you can see the purple I am talking about!! Yeah for me! I sure have a lot to learn about taking pictures, that is for sure!!!!

Here is a comparison shot of an Opal owned by DaemoNox's. I found on the Source website. Pretty similar I think, how about you?

Similar, but with much more color than yours. Yours is extremely light for an opal, but can still be an opal as I personally own one that has always been light, even as a hatchling. It's a female, which tend to be less colorful than the males (but not always). The possibility of it being a snow lavender, or a snow het lavender or simply a snow with no lavender gene at all is still a good possibility. I have seen examples of all of them that could pass as your snake's identical twin. The only way you are going to know for sure is through a breeding trial with a known lavender (ideally, a homozygous lavender without an amel gene even in het status).

Only one of these snakes is an opal. The other two are snows het lavender.

It is a very pretty snake--but seems a bit skinny! Hopefully you'll be able to fatten her up some. She has a very cute little head!

Thanks again to everyone I really appreciate everyone's input! Now to confirm his, or shall I say his or her, sex and find a suitable mate. I really have absoultely no idea how old he/she is, maybe knowing the sex would help a bit at estimating age.

Happy Holidays to All!!

Looks to be a really pretty snow.. Snows can look lavenderish in the saddles sometimes, Its just the way all the colors come together that make it look that way I think..

Breeding trials would be the best way for you to know for sure.. If it is a male, breed it to a snow and an opal and see what comes out.. If a female, pick either a male snow or opal and test it :) Good luck!! And if it is just a snow, snows are very pretty snakes and a good morph to have.

I would think it's a snow....but breeding trials will be fun in determining what it is...especially if it turns out not to be snow.

I wouldn't discount Opal...it looks EXACTLY like my female opal does!

Considering this is a pet store find.. I'd say it's definitely a snow. I don't see enough color there to consider it an opal unless a breeder told you for sure that that's what it was.

Snows can be quite colorful. They develop their colors as they grow. Yellows, pinks, and even greens can show up as they mature over the years.

Take a look at Carol's Neon Pink snows.
