Corn Snake Morph Identification

EsotericForest

Night Shadow
I recently acquired a new corn snake, and I was wondering if I could have somebody identify what morph this is. :)

Anery + some sort of hypo. Could be a ghost, could be an ultramel anery. May be het for sunkissed. Very handsome critter! Can you get us a picture of his belly checkers and his eye?

Ultramel anery caramel? Has a lot of yellow on it's neck at that size for just ultramel anery which is why I guess caramel too :) Plus it's practically exactly the same colour as my UAC motley :p

Until proven otherwise through breeding trials, I would call it a ghost, the more common morph with that look. There is nothing about it that would hint to me at it being het Sunkissed, the amount of yellow is commonly found in ghosts so saying it might be het caramel is not something I would do, and while the eye color is not what I normally see in my ghost hatchlings, the color does often change as they age (and I'm guessing this one to be at least 6-9 months old) so nothing unusual there. It might be an ultramel anery, but I've not seen that many of those as hatchlings to be able to identify them with any accuracy.

I'm with Susan, ghost, but a very pretty one. There very well could be some ultramel going on with it, maybe. I've seen one clutch of possible ultramel anery babies and the eyes were fairly light like that. Hard to tell, but I'm really still leaning toward a very pretty, kind of almost a pastel-ish looking, ghost. It could be a "tweener" from a pastel to something else breeding.

Just curious where you got the new little one? That can also help shed light on possible morphs.

Very pretty baby, looks like a ghost to me too.

Please don't be upset by my next question...but why would you buy a snake from someone who can't tell you what it is?

I wanted to know the morph for the sake of curiosity. The rest of your question will be answered below.

I work at Petco and I usually only see normals, amels, or other common morphs come through. So when this snake came in I was drawn to it being a little more unique.

I see where you got the Sunkissed idea, I've noticed too on a lot of sunkissed snakes their head pattern sharply separated at the neck from the body pattern, but there was also another thread that pointed out not ALL sunkisseds do this, and not all snakes that have this feature carry sunkissed, it's just something that "commonly" is associated with that gene. not a hard-fast rule.

Agree with the others here, only breeding would say for absolutely sure what the little guy has got going on there. But I don't blame you for snatching him up, little mysteries are always fun!

I work at Petco too... We get quite a few different morphs in. We had an absolutely stunning Bloodred in about a month ago. I wish I would have picked him up, his diffusion was to die for. We also tend to get ghost, anery, snow (of different varieties), amel, and normals. It was the first time I had seen a BR... I really should have gotten him, he is going to be a stunning adult...

But, yours looks like the ghosts I see coming through 1106.

.

And that's exactly why I said "may be" het, rather than is het.
