I've had him for almost four years now, recently I've noticed him pushing against the side of his terrarium and cave with his nose and side of his head. He seems to do this quite often, and he pushes really hard, like to the point of shaking because he's pushing so hard.. and I'm scared he might possibly hurt his eye(s).. I'm starting to find it alarming, does this sound like normal behaviour?

Does he only do it in the late winter/spring? He might be wanting to come out and look for a mate.

I've noticed him doing it every few days or so in the last couple of months, and he was doing it less frequently last time he was getting ready to shed. I have no idea..

Thumper has started doing that as well recently, well ever since I got his tank back up to temp. I'm thinking it has to do with the changing of the seasons, but have my own post detailing more of his behavior, but didn't think to connect the pushing and his cruising together.

Ichiro was actually doing this today for the first time. He was doing it for like 30 min and then stopped. But while he was doing it, he was trying to burrow and was just cruising around his tank. kinda freaked me out when he started doing it cuz he too was sorta rough with it...

My okettee does it HARDCORE, CONSTANTLY. It makes me nervous that he's gonna hurt his nose scales.

I'm noticing that everyone who has said their snake does it is speaking of a male snake. Might we have another method of backwoods sexing your snake? Kinda like the box theory? (If you haven't heard it then ask and I will post it.)

anyone had a female that's done this?

:shrugs:Yes please explain. LOL

Box Theory

Ok so it goes:

You take a shoebox and drill two holes (one in each of the long sides about 1" from the end) and place a piece of metal tubing straight through the holes. On the other end you cover the short side with aluminum foil (shiny side out). You place the hatchling in the box. If it goes to the end with the tube and pushes on the bar, its a male..... if it goes and admires itself in the "mirror" it's a female.

NOTE: THIS ONLY WORKS ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE FOURTH MONTH OF THE CALENDAR YEAR
