Mom: *Gasp* Emily! Those people could be stalkers or murderers or something just trying to get our address so they can come kidnap you or murder us!

I can see where Emily's mom is coming from......
but as far as the regulars on this site being dangerous, I have to laugh!!

Last October one of my snakes tragically was fatally wounded in an accident. For 6 weeks I fought to save him, but he died anyway.
He was an expensive morph and I could not afford to replace him.

I was contacted by a wonderful person on here,,,,and she got together with Bayou Reptiles, and they sent me a male in the morph of the male I lost...AND a wonderful female for him, completely free with free shipping. When I got the email from the breeder, I started crying, I was so overwhelmed!!! (It was a Thursday, Survivor was on....)

It has been almost year, and I am still stunned.....

Can you do that? I didn't know post offices did that. I will stop by the post office tomorrow and ask if they can or will Thats a good idea.

If the ones being offered to you are too big, I have a couple of smaller UTH's I would be willing to send you. Same deal, no charge. I could probably even get them in a manila envelope. They wouldn't be stuck to plexiglass and no guarantee, but I think I could even throw in a rheostat, so you can control the temps.

Same deal as the previous! You don't need to feel that you are taking advantage of me, I would do it for anyone who needs it!

She could always just stalk the delivery people and try and snag the package before the parents do. That's what I'd do if I still lived at home XD

I hate to say it but my parents had the same internet crazy rules with me so I totally understand. By the time my youngest siblings were internet savy they had relaxed going through me and my three other close in age siblings breaking their rules constantly. And beth siblings don't tell on each other we use it as extortion against each other instead when we want something

But you see, Danielle, if secrets against parents are "extortable" to sibs, that still sounds like a reason you wouldnt want your sibs in your forums!

I am so glad I was an adult by the time the interwebz came out!

Emily, I'm trying to give you the benefit of the doubt, truly..but these statements make me wonder about you. If you're doing something on the net that your parents don't know about..it's time to be honest, at least about this place.

They actually don't even know I am a part of a forum...They would be upset and make me get off if they knew. They are very superstisous about the internet. I guess I could get a P.O Box...do they cost money??

So as a minor, you're going to go out and get a PO box (is that even possible) rather than be up front with your parents about your desire to be a responsible pet owner....but are you a responsible kid in the first place? I'm starting to wonder...

I want help wholovessnakes, but clearly you do not understand my situation. I am not giving excuses, but real issues that I have to get around somehow. You can believe me, or you don't have to. But these are real issues and problems. I am trying to find a way to get the UTH's.

I read and love this scenario. Absolutely, a great little read. Mostly because it is similar to how my wife and I respond when one of my five or six kids give out their personal info online to people we have never met or have any idea exist. In fact, we've had issues... but that's another story.

Anyway, I commend you for making sure you safe guard the integrity of your family's safety, and for honoring your parents' wishes. You are absolutely smart for not providing your address to a person you don't know beyond the realm of an online forum. There is, however, a difference in this group. People here who are making offers to assist you have reputations which can be checked out. They can easily be found if there is a negative situation which arises. Whatever you do, you are generally correct that it is never a good idea to give your phone number or address to anyone on the internet who your parents have not approved of. Very simple. However, it seems to me that while you may know your parents better than any of us (obviously) you might also be insulting their intelligence in making an educated decision. That is, if you approach them in an intelligent manner. But of course, since they don't know you are on this forum I'll assume you usually lie to them anyway. And I'll bet one lie to your parents is enough to brand you a lier to them for all time. They probably come from the school of "if they'll lie to me, they'll steal from me; and if they'll steal from me they're willing to kill me". That can not bode well for you when you have what appears to be genuine offers from people who appear to be of good repute. Especially since asking would be requiring that you must admit to a lie of ommission.

So sad, really.

I'm not lying to them, they don't tell me "not" to get on a forum really, I just think they would be worried and freak out if they found out someone is wanting my address and stuff.

Believe me, I am a good kid. Very mature, very responsible. I respect my parents a WHOLE lot. This forum isn't hurting anything and I enjoy it. I'm sure if I told them I was on a forum... they would be... idk. Surprised? If I told them I gave out my address to someone on the forum... They would be furious!

I am going to talk to the PO tomorrow. Maybe that will help

P.S. My Brother and me are cool. He would never say anything. My parents don't care what he does though. I asked him to let me use his mailbox but he pointed out he is living at home for a while... yay...
