Crypto and collections.... What to do?

Naagas

Deserae :)
I had three of my quarantined snakes (out of 40) die.
I got them from the reptile expo in october.

One was an adult Hog Island Boa- got an infection and died suddenly after being given antibiotics.

Two were babies from a clutch of BRBs. The one was immediately sickly and died... The second was fine until a week ago when she was suddenly dead.

I took her in to get a necropsy, because I'm now very worried.

So... Worse case, it was crypto.

If so, am I totally screwed?
I've sold snakes.... I have 2011 babies waiting for homes, I have a collection of 30 adult corns- including great breeding groups from Jeff Mohr.

What is the current info on crypto?

I use vinegar and water for daily cleaning. I wash or sanitize my hands with alcohol between every snake rack.
But.... If I fed quarantined snakes, washed my hands, then fed my collection.... Could I still pass on crypto?

What do I do as a responsible breeder if this is crypto?

I feel sick with worry.

I am reluctant to even think about the need for culling large amounts of snakes.

As things stand, I'd have to say - stop breeding and don't pass on any of your snakes to other people.

At present, managing crypto seems to be about containment and damage limitation.

However, please don't give yourself that problem to worry about until you know you have it. It's only three snakes, so the deaths are enough to be coincidence and could be completely unrelated to each other, let alone crypto. Any weakened or sickly snake could be laid out by the stress of travel to/from an expo. None of the deaths actually need to have been suspicious. Two were hatchlings, and we all know that they can leave us suddenly and for no easily discernible reason.

Please try to rest easy until those test results are in, for your own sake. Let us know how it goes - am sending you all my best wishes for a happier outcome.

Deserae, I'm sorry to hear that. I was going to suggest Oren's thread as well.
I wish you luck in your situation.
