As some of you may know already, I am retiring later on this year and getting out of the business to kick back and enjoy the rest of my life with my wife. Been doing this corn snake breeding thing for 30 years now, and I think it's just time to hand off the baton to others...

With that in mind, if you are interested in corn snakes and coming to the Daytona Beach Expo this upcoming weekend, I STRONGLY suggest that you stop by my tables first before going anywhere else. I am bringing a LOT of animals, and many of which would be keepers had I still intended to keep on breeding these critters. Prices will be set with the goal in mind to completely sell out everything I bring with me. My goal is to clear out the 2008 and 2009 animals by the end of August so I can concentrate on listing my adults and subadult corns for sale to close out SerpenCo by January 1. The adults an subadults will be taken off feed in the first week of September, and I would like to kill off the entire mouse colony and take that huge expense and workload off of our shoulders. Obviously, if I still have babies to feed, that can't happen, so a lot of this final game plan hinges on my clearing out the little guys as quickly as possible.

So I will be an EXTREMELY motivated seller at the show this weekend. Matter of fact, if anyone is interested in taking whatever is left at the end of the show, please contact me at the show to let me know. I will be VERY reasonable at that time in order to go home empty handed.

BTW, sorry, but I will only be accepting cash at this show. For a number of reasons, not the least of which my credit card machine broke last year, and since the only time I even see the darn thing or think of it is when I am doing the show, I completely forgot about it until rather recently. It's probably a simple code update, but just haven't had the time, nor will I, to do it. Expo is just chock full of ATM machines, so please keep them in mind.

In any event, this will certainly be our last Expo, at least as vendors, and I hope to see everyone there. It's been a great time doing this, and I hope everyone else can experience the joys I have had thrown my way and dodge those barbs that Mr. Murphy has tossed at me with disturbing frequency. All in all, if I had to make the choice again, I would do it again in a heartbeat.

To those of you who can't make the show this year, I am sorry I will miss this final chance to meet or see you again.
 
I'm pretty much outta the corn scene, but I look forward to meeting you in Daytona, boss. I've seen your name in print since the old McEachern days. I've spoken to you on the phone once (your customer-service skills were ADMIRABLE... ). It's not just ass-kissing to say that I'm glad i'll meet you before you're gone. Few in this business leave a legacy. You will.
 
Rich and his Serpenco company has definatley left a mark. I wish i was going to Daytona, i always have wanted too. But enjoy retirement Rich, and don't watch too much TV, lol j/k.
 
Thanks to everyone for making this last show Connie and I did a real blast! We had a hell of a lot of fun, and sold off all the animals we took there as well. Can't ask for anything more than that, now can I?

We ran out of room in the van for styros, so I still have about 120 corn snakes remaining here. Actually had more, but a shipment that went out on Tuesday cut that number back a bit. So these are it FOREVER for baby corn snakes from me.

I also have that bulk pack of babies hatching out if anyone wants to make an offer on them before I sent them to my wholesaler. There are a few Ashy in there, plus a Hypo Ashy and an Amel Ashy as well. Also so at least one GoldDust BloodRed in a clutch and a bunch of Lavender, Hypo Lavender, and Opal Stripes. Those alone will make that batch worth at least $2,000 to someone. Otherwise the whole lot of them goes in bulk and certainly the guy getting them will be tickled pink when he opens up the bag.

I plan to start inventorying the adults and subadults shortly so I can lost them for sale as soon as possible. Please bear in mind that I am trying to keep the shipping supplies down to a bare minimum, so there may be periods where I cannot ship because I am waiting for a minimum order of shipping supplies to come in after the current stock is depleted.

Also, I will need to figure out a way to charge reasonable prices for shipping expenses without getting reamed. Adults are expensive to ship, because of the weight and box size issue. Larger orders will HAVE to go via Delta to your nearest airport. Smaller orders will be priced based on the number of animals involved and the size of the box. Hopefully I can automate my shopping cart program to produce a reasonable pricing structure for this.

Anyway, I'll notify everyone when those larger snakes are up for grabs.

Thanks again everyone for making what most people would think of as a pipe dream into a viable and rewarding business for me.

If there are any adults I want to purchase, I could just pick them up so you wouldn't have to go through the trouble. If Susan wanted one/some as well, would pick them up for her.

Geez, I wish I could have seen some of those on your table instead of them hatching now. I'd have jumped on some fast and thrown even more cash at you Rich. Oh, well. I'll just "want" and go from there.....lol
 
I just did a quick video of those clutches hatching out that I want to send out as a bulk package. I figure if I can't get $2,000 for this batch, then I would just as soon just give the guy who has been taking all my bulk stuff a real break on these. Heck, I saw at least two GoldDust Bloodreds in there. My wholesale price on them alone was $300 each.

And I have had a couple of more clutches start hatching just since I took the video clips.

Anyway, starting bid is $2,000. Best price over that by Monday morning gets them.

Just go to the Hamm show next month and buy some corn snakes from Mark Bell. It's a pretty safe bet you'll be buying my stock... :)

Please ignore the above post. I went to Daytona VERY LAST MINUTE !!! As in made up my mind to go at 11:30 am Fri. Wife and I and Daughter arrived at Daytona sat morning 2 am ! :grin01:

Wow ! What a trip, what a show. I spoke to Rich Z one more time. He had alot of great deals going on.
 
The bulk lot is sold. Turns out I had 220 snakes in that batch. So much for my "guestimating" skills. I thought there was only about 100 all total...
 
Sorry...... But things are going to be moving FAST around here. When I put something up for sale, the intent is to MOVE it quickly. Connie and I are really chomping at the bit to get this retirement started. Personally, all I can do is stare at that light at the end of the tunnel. It's pretty much got me mesmerized. Disbelief, regret, relief, and anticipation all wrapped up together into one very odd feeling emotion.

And yes, I have been working on my adult list. I think there are something like 1,330 adults and subadults I need to list, so it's pretty time consuming. Obviously there can't possibly be pics of them. It would take me at least a full year to do something like that. Sorry about those who insist on photographs of the animals you buy, because there is just no way I can do that. I've got "short timer syndrome" now and just want to expidite this as much as humanly possible. But honestly, the work involved in getting the adults out of here is going to conflict quite a bit with this pre-retirement euphoria I am feeling now.

Based on the number of emails and PMs I have gotten about the adults, I expect them to be moved out at a pretty rapid pace. So much so that anyone who hesitates on something runs a very real risk of having it sold out from under them while they are trying to decide on making that purchase. As we have seen, it does happen....
