Dimpling question...

Gralena

Corn Snake Diva
Ok...so it is getting close to the end and I am a typical nervous mom. I am on day 56 with my 20 eggs and they have incubated from 82-85 degrees at about 98% humidity. When I candle them I can now see a dark mass about halfway up the egg inside. I do not see movement.

Today several of the eggs have started dimpling. Could this already be the pre-pip dimpling? Or is it too soon? I did add a few airholes to the container a couple days ago (because we were going out of town and I was worried about pippies needing air)....but the humidity still registers in the egg box as 98. What do you think....anything I should do? (like cover the holes I made?)

That would be the pre-pip dimpling... I've heard they will often dimple a week before pipping. Leave the air holes as is, and congrats on the imminent pippies! =)

I totally understand your nervousness i am hatching out my frist clutch started with 13 and have 4 left due to some being non fertile. the 4 i have left r still plumpy but have dimples and this wired grayish coloration but the eggs still look decnt and the r due next tuesday making it day 60.. am being told to relax by my friends that i should have 4 babies very soon as these r signs of hatching... gulp... i hope so..so i understand good luck!

My first clutch this season dimpled on day 57 and pipped on day 63,64,65 . They were like a poor synchronized swimming team. Good luck on the uncoming pips ....

You know what else is weird...my cornsnake laid in 2 clumps. In the same egg box the clumps are separated only by a couple inches. Sphagnum moss surrounds everything. But all of the eggs in left clump are now dented. None of the eggs in the right clump are. Hmmm....

That's okay. Only the eggs on the left side of my one clump are dimpling. The others... aren't. LOL.

Yeah, actually I was wondering about that....what happens to the babies down below in the bottom of the clump I can't see? Can you see all of your eggs?

I can see at least a portion of them all. For the ones at the bottom, they'll find their way out. They do in nature.

You guys are lucky, mine never ever dimple. It always happens that they're plump when I got to bed, and wake up the next morning and they all have slits with little noses poking out.
