Double Shed!

Susan

Go Ahead, Make My Day!
It has taken me a week to find the time to crop and resize these, but last week at feeding time, I had not one, but two hatchlings, shed while I held them. The first, one of my male ice, wanted to shed first before eating his pinky. My female ice naturally had to eat first before deciding to get rid of her old skin.

First up is Ari, the male. The last photo shows off his new skin in all it's lovely iceness!

And here is Asdis, my female. Sorry there are many more of her as it took her a bit longer due to her full belly.

And the last of them, including a final post-shed portrait!

What a sweet pair of ice. Something I could own legit here.

And thank you for taking the time to resize the pictures.
It annoying when they are too big!!

Hi Susan, I love the male! Lovely colouring on him and you would swear it had diffused in him by just looking at him! Will be a little stunner!

They're beautiful snakes, that's for sure! Does it feel weird when they shed their skins in your hand? It looks like it would :).

It does feel kind of weird because they tend to move tightly across your hand using exaggerated movements to crawl out of the old skin.

They are both 50% het diffuse and I would put money on him having picked up the gene! You should see how minimally checked his belly is!

When this happens to me, I have a problem with wanting to help them out. I have to put them back for a few minutes and check back later, or i'd be peeling it off for them like a banana.. and that can't be good!

I never get over how wet the skins are when they shed. I understand why it is, but it sort of grosses me out for some reason. On another note, you should try having a six foot or six and a half foot long snake shed in your hand. That's a sight!
