Jen, I just renewed AND paid for a personal forum, and my shiny is gone too!
My subscription ran out June 12 but I think I confused Rich by renewing May 27.

I believe the renewel stuff is automated except maybe for starting the personal forum. Go into your User CP, Click on Group Memberships in the left hand menu panel and you should then be able to select to have your shiny thing back.
