Escape waiting to happen

I plan on getting a baby in about a month and I am starting to feel a bit paranoid about escapes. I also think that the store I bought my stuff from may have taken advantage of my inexperience.

Will this cover prevent a very small corn snake from escaping. With some effort I can shove a pen between the wires. Please let me know if you think I should get a proper wire mesh cover.

Oh yeah a baby can get out of that. I would get a mesh one. That would be fine for an adult but I have seen babies get out of spaces tighter than that.

My rule of thumb (or should I say.. pinkie...) is that if I can put the very tip of my pinkie through it, a snake can get out.

Oh yeah, I think a baby would be on the lam in less than 20 minutes tops.....
I am really really glad you caught this though.

Wow you must have tiny pinkies cause I have had them get out of smaller spots than the tip of my pinkies.

I cannot believe your were sold that type of top for a baby corn. A baby will get out of that in a heartbeat. My adult and 2010 corns both have sliding screened tops.

Lol my pinkies are smaller than pencils xD
I guess a better way to say it.. if a snake can get the tip of its nose out, it can get out.
