Escapee or Eaten?

I have have a couple of baby corns housed together in a terrarium for about a month. Mysteriously I now cannot find one of them. The two are roughly the same size with one being slightly smaller. I am not sure if the missing one was a meal for the other or if it escaped. Is it even possibly for a baby corn to escape a terrarium? Are they even strong enough to push the top up to squeeze out? I have a lamp sitting on the top so I'm not even sure how it could. The other snake doesn't have by huge bulges anywhere and doesn't seem extra thick. Any thoughts?

I would check the substrate thoroughly. They can escape easily especially when they're small. Who knows? maybe he's food😢. Good luck!

I have checked the substrate so many times. Wouldn't I be able to tell if the other one did eat him? There are no bumps or anything on him. Even being so small are they strong enough to lift the terrarium lid?

Oh, you'd be totally surprised at how strong they are! How big are the babies? I have two hatchlings from this year and man I was so shocked at how strong they are. One of the reasons I think they are so awesome. For not having limbs they can climb and move amazing and have some amazing muscle. I think you would have noticed if the other one ate him unless it was a day or two before you seen them last and he managed not to regurg. Most of the time, with what I've seen on here, most snakes will regurg after eating another snake. But I'd also do a search around the house and put some "traps" out to catch it if it got out. I know you can search the forum for lost snakes and there are some ideas on how to lure them out. I hope you figure it out!

They aren't that big. Maybe the length of my forearm. I had handle both of them the night before. I am going to try seeing traps today

I think you would notice if one had eaten the other but it could have happened. There are some creative ideas on here, just be careful not to harm the little guy. Hope he turns up. They are pretty great escape artists.

If a corn eats another of the same size, it will have a HUGE distended belly. Since that isn't the case, I suspect escape. Yes, they can get out of a screen lid and do routinely. If you do find him, I would endeavor to get another viv set up for him so that he doesn't wind up being eaten! This is why we don't cohabitate. Good luck.

Get some clips, assuming you have a screen top. Those put some decent pressure on the lid. Definitely harder for escape. My little guy is always exploring every inch of his cage, including the top(I have vines hanging). He hasn't gotten out yet.

I didn't put the backdrop in. It's just the glass and the backdrop is made of Styrofoam. I didn't want it to absorb anything.

It's pretty unlikely he was eaten, unless there was a big size difference, because if a hatchling eats another hatchling, it generally dies, too. You definitely would have noticed the feeding bump.
