I was thinking about getting a drum set. I know corn can't hear, but feel the vibrations. how will it affect them ? (probably alot)
but the main question is, if I have to put them in the same room, will I able to in anyway without stressing them?

I want to be honest, it is loud. very loud. I won't tell you it's like a ringtone...
I was thinking maybe putting them on a shelf.


I also want to be clear, that their health comes first. I am not looking to "make do" if it'll stress them.
 
The vibrations of a loud drum does not lend itself to happy snakes. I would consider another room.

anyway, what room in the house do you usually keep your snakes?
 
Corn snakes can hear, actually.
They hear worse than people do, but they do hear.

Some snakes might not mind the drums so much.
I have a drum set in the same room as my snakes and I haven't noticed any ill effects from it.
I don't drum daily though.
If I were you, I'd see if I noticed any stress from playing extremely loud music or the like.

I keep mine in my room that I use for sleeping and keeping fish/snakes in.I plan to have 1 snake there and 1 in the living room hopefully.
 
I keep the corns in the master bedroom. The ball python is on the counter between the kitchen and the living room, it is the only place his tank will fit. I haven't noticed him the TV, stereo, or kids stress him out. He likes to watch me cook, too.
 
I have a new snake that hates the sound of my voice. I can hold her, but if I talk she starts flailing around!

But I'll see about relocating them.

I play guitar, which if used properly, can make quite a bit of noise..lol.
I figured the amp vibrations would stress her out, so I have only played acoustic in the same room as my snake. However, maybe she wouldn't mind it so much if i kept the volume at a reasonable level.
Drums, on the other hand, I can see how that would bother a snake; it would almost be like an earthquake for the little guy.
Maybe an electronic drum set? :shrugs:
 
I was handling a snake last night, and as an experiment, I turned up music with a heavy bass really loud. Zephon started flailing around, trying to look everywhere at once. I have concluded that drums are going to make your snake think that a giant predator is in the room. Maybe they would become accustomed to it with repetition, though, just like they learn that you aren't going to eat them. :shrug:
 
My boyfriend plays guitar. One night he decided to sit next to my corn snake's viv and play her a song. He positioned the guitar close to her spot in the viv so that she could feel the vibrations and played softly. She became curious and climbed up higher to see what he was doing. Then she started to sway a little, almost in time with the music. Every time he stopped playing, she would hold perfectly still. Every time he picked up again, she would continue swaying. This went on for about a minute before she finally lost interest. I guess he was a snake charmer in another life!

wow nice! you should try it again with a video Camera.... I'd love to see it.

I think an experiment will work well. however I think it might not be best for them even if they get used to it. you can get used to it, by my snakes are not my neighbors.

My corns are in my bedroom... I usually only sleep in there and take them out and about the house sometimes... however, their vivs are in my bedroom. It's more peaceful in there and less traffic.
