Fed Ex shipping ?

Can I ship a snake Fed Ex or do I have to be certified? I used shipyourreptiles once and it was way more than regular FedEx would have been.\

Thanks!

I know a lot of breeders that use SYR because you can actually get insurance on the packages. I will gladly list those very reputable breeders if you would like me to. I use a certified FedEx account, as I can just take boxes that I'm shipping to work and send them from there. SYR ships through FedEx as well. Using SYR is not in any way unprofessional, and those that think it is are horribly misinformed and close minded. SYR is very professional especially if you're shipping very high end animals because you can insure them. I'm even thinking about reverting to SYR for higher end ($1,000+) animals this season that have been sold and are waiting to grow up. Also SYR is run by some of the most professional reptile breeders in the hobby!

The is no difference as far as the quality of shipping between SYR and FedEx certified. It all goes through FedEx, same plane, same truck, same everything. Many breeders trust SYR, so to say breeders don't use it is a false statement.

As stated you do need to be FedEx certified if you don't ship through SYR. Some people who are certified actually get cheaper rates with SYR than those with an account. I don't my rates are cheaper than SYR but as David stated you do get the bonus of having SYR insure the package which is not offered with FedEx that is something that is done by SYR.

Why so defensive? lol I didn't see anyone being negative about SYR.

I'm defensive because I see a lot of uninformed people, state that SYR is not professianal and professional breeders don't use it. The people that SYR are professionals. Some of the most experienced breeders in the nation use SYR. To say SYR is unprofessional is like saying red firetrucks are more professional than yellow firetrucks

Ok but not once in the 2 comments that were left did anyone say they weren't professional. Lenny did state that is why breeders don't use them and he isn't incorrect. Many breeders who do a lot of shipping don't use them because they can get cheaper rates than SYR. Personally I like to see people certified even if they use SYR because I know that they are shipping with in FedEx standards and my package isn't going to be deemed undeliverable or anything.

I am sorry I just think it is a stupid thing to get all bent out of shape on when no one has said anything negative.

I know a ton of breeders who are shipping an upwards of 10 boxes a day that use SYR. It's not just Lenny it's mutiple people, on a variety of different sites. i just wanted to make it known that SYR isn't unprofessional. Yes, getting certified is important, but getting certified means you have to pack a box well once, that doesn't mean they will check it a multitude of times

I'm glad my information IS correct!!! I try not to give out bad information!

And I agree with ya cmalchow!!

So is my information incorrect, or wrong? If so please explain how SYR is not a prefessional operation run by a professional company (ProExotics). And tell me why then, many breeders use it?

I was working from 3:00AM until 7:00PM Saturday. I am just sick of uninformed people talking without thinking or having evidence to back it up. We're all guilty of it, but I had an overload of it at the show this weekend LOL

You're right it doesn't. It's what I've heard from many people. And not just on this thread.

It's not that I consider them unprofessional, I have even recommended SYR to people that are not fed ex certified and want to ship. It's just that I consider it slightly MORE professional to make the effort and get certified. Why? Because there is no guarantee someone is not going to make a mistake while using SYR that screws it up for EVERYONE that uses SYR. I remember a comany called Repster, I even signed up for and used them to ship a few packages, well they went under and turned out to be a real big scandal around it. My choice is to use my fed ex account because only I am using that and I don't have to worry if someone else ships wrong and fed ex decides to end the agreement.

That's my point but....

While you are correct it's more professional, I like to offer my high end clients the safety net of insurance.
