feeders at petsmart

Lennycorn

Just see the truth
In my travels today I thought I would check out a Petsmart for feeders.
Someone here stated something like it a fifty/fifty shot finding them.

Well I did find them with the frozen fish food. They had small mice, fuzzy and pinky's. They sold them in small oval shape deli cup of six per cup, Individually wrap though, for a wopping cost of $9.99 per cup. Well if this is the going price in these stores I'll just order on line I guess. I only have two snakes but I know I can beat that price. And besides I check in the cups and the small mice looked unnaturally brown. Good for an emergency but not for regular feeding.

Yeah, against their own policy...PETsMART is now selling feeder mice...I saw the ad in the January 2006 REPTILES magazine...The "Arctic Mice" are by T-Rex. I however am not suprised by the ludacris price.

you can order from Pet Supplies Plus, at least I do, and feeder mice (medium sized), cost me .98 cents each...however, I believe pinkies/fuzzies and hoppers are a bit cheaper. just something you might want to check on before ordering online.

Thats the same ones they are selling in the "local" PetSmart too.. If you were close enough to me Lenny I would let you come and buy some from p/ked frozen pinks for a $1 each.. Even if that seems expensive it is better than paying what they want to sell them for, and at least mine would be pretty darn fresh..

Regards..

ouch thats extreme prices.
i bredd my own, so much cheaper, is a lot of hassle but worth it if you have a lot of snakes to feed.

yeah if you have ALOT he only has 2 so i dont think it would be worth but me i have one breeding pair and they feed my snakes and wut ever i dont use i sell or give to my friend with snakes

Yup, it's true. We at PetSmart just started carrying T-Rex's "Arctic Mice" last week. An outrageous price of $9.99 for 6, no matter the size from pinkie to "small mouse" (which to me are smaller than RodentPro's hoppers). The ones we got in actually look really good, clean, and no freezer burn. Individually wrapped. Though you can bet I'm not paying those prices, people are actually snatching them up. I'm guessing they either only have 1 or 2 snakes, or family members are opposed to having bulk mice stored next to their food in the freezer. :shrugs:

I only have three snakes, and I still wouldn't pay those prices. Even including shipping charges it is much cheaper to order online.

Yeah, I guess that Petsmart set "rip off" price nation wide. And like stated before small in all sizes.
I just wanted to see if I could get a "bag" for feeder of twenty or more. But someone should tell them there prices are ridiculous. :crazy01: :crazy02:

Last time I went to a Petsmart I got the 'we don't sell snakes and the only mice we sell are pets' speech but I guess they must have realized they were missing out on a way to make a profit?

Whoa... $9.99 for 6 is cheap compaired to what I pay ~.~ $5.49 for ONE. Well.. for one jumbo for Treasure... Hunter's fuzzies are only $3.95 Need to convince some one near me to breed feeders hehe.

Wow. Is it just me or does it now sound like your not a feeder breeder at all. :eek1:

I'm not.. and I never have been. My mice are for pets only. I couldn't murder something I saw born ~,~

Up until a few days ago, I bred mice to feed to my snakes... I am tired of their stinky odor!! I sold 10 of the adults to a petstore that sells frozen individuals for .99. Much easier, no cleaning necessary. I don't have to estimate how many pinkies will outlive my snakes appetites, either.

Well, for $5.50 a shot, I think I could learn not to see them being born.
I mean good God girl, you know how to save yourself a few buck and you watch f/t being eaten, you touch live ones. What the problem?
I'm and a few other are complaining about six for $10.00 and your paying $5.00 for one. Hello........ You know you might be able to get some feeders for thirty or forty apeice on line, right. I just thought I could save on shipping and handling by looking at Petsmart. Wrong. Well if you got the spare change go for it. Sorry I think that's a waste of money.

Doesn't surprise me in the least. Paying $5 something for one mouse when you breed them. Then again, last time I heard they were 1500 miles away. So much for that daily care and attention you give them. Just another reason that reinforces why most of us don't believe you own what you say you do. So I guess in that sense, you can't feed mice to your snakes when you don't own any.

I'm just having a wee bit of trouble envisioning what you keep your mice in. The link to the males must have been a sarcastic jab, because my mice don't live in Xboxes, male or not. But its very convenient to describe what they live in when you don't have pictures of your masterpieces. I mean how can you not have walls on the "cages" of your females? I've had a few mice to get out on the top of my mouse rack before, but they didn't waste any time getting to the floor. I mean if these cages were so revolutionary, I'd be showing them off like there was no tomorrow.

Heck, even Treasure whom you claim is a 2004 corn but is 52" or something, but the only picture's I've seen of him aren't on anything measurable, even on the "Biggest Corn" thread. I mean, everyone owns a tape measure or ruler. ;)

10,000 mice born and they're all "pet mice"....even most show mice breeders I've met own snakes that eat the culls and sickly. Maybe your mice are just so much better. I just want to know who buys all of these 10,000 pet mice anyway.

I'm beginning to agree with Quigs, 23 and still in college. I had a 9 year old sitting beside me in AP Chemistry in high school, and he passed with a perfect score compared to the rest of us.

* I know that you said you give most of your "bad mice" to your ex for his snakes, because "live is murder". I don't know about you hun, but any man that asked me to marry him and then while we were trying to get pregnant out of wedlock and was sleeping around on me wouldn't get the time of day let alone food for his snakes. You talk an AWFUL lot about your ex, for him being so bad to you. They're ex's for a reason, imho.

By the way, JM was being very polite, compared to everyone else, in asking for the title of that program. Have you been polite back and answered her?

$5.49 for one.. I will buy that, seen feeder mice being sold out in Western Canada for $4 a pop.. Wondering what the hell this people have been into.. Perhaps some BC Bud has had some sort of affect here.. *lol* cough.. cough.. Wonder how many of the population of about 32 million people across Canada actually purhcase mice from you ( 139 000 on PEI or Prince Edward Island for my American friends.. ), the shipping must be outrageous because you can't ship live animals through FedEx, UPS, Greyhound or Canada Post, and that leaves AirCanada, WestJet or some short range airline to make the delivary for your customers, I would think it would be at least $100 for shipping via the airlines, and with that, you narrowed your market severely.

Oh well, what would a fellow know with only a Gr9 Education with a bit of trade school thrown in?? Obviously something does not add up here, much like the BP market in Canada, but what do I know, I am uneducated and therefore must be handicapped mentally in the way you have expressed your view.. Ah well, C'est la vie..

Regards

Well . can you get f/t feeder shipped ? Or breed some mice.
I didn't know prices for feeder were so high up there.
Sounds like someone needs to start a business there. :shrugs:

Good Luck

I can get f/t shipped to me, but they're always 1/2 thawed when I get them ~,~ Trying to cut a deal with the shop now, I give them help with their hatchlings, in return for free feeders. Most places here only sell pinks, and it would take like 15 pinks to equal the size of one mouse that Treasure eats ~,~

Tac... different ex... I have 4 of those in all =/ The mouse business is run out of Shan'es house, in New York, as I don't have a place of my own to breed them. He moved back to NY 2 years ago, and we moved the business with him. The kids look after the mice, and we pay them to do it. I don't know why that stupid link doesn't work... its SUPPOSED to go to the, ahem, labratory mouse supply site. Yes, I keep my males in lab rat housing ~,~ Try this again Thoren mouse housing systems Another one incase that one still doesn't work Thoren homepage I can't find any pics online that show a mouse citadel / condo, but there is a small pic in the book I have linked into the mouse food recipe thread.
