feeding 2 pinks

Tomorrow, I'm going to up my antheryistic to 2 pinks ... i was wondering how exactly I go about feeding Phantom, 2? Do I offer both at once or give him the second one after he's finished the first? How long should I wait in between the 2?

Thanks!

Wait until the first one is past the "gullet" and into the abdomen, and then give him the second.

Putting 2 in with the snake at the same time *could* cause more stress than is necessary for your snake and actually cause it to refuse to eat altogether. If your snake is a "problem" feeder, you may want to feed the second pink while it is still swallowing the last of the first, to aoid a refusal of the second. But otherwise I would recommend only one food item at a time in the feeding bin with the snake, but that is just me..

I'll try one at a time first and see how it goes ... last time he was looking around (after I fed one) as if he wanted more ... I haven't had any problems feeding Phantom yet so hopefully he'll enjoy his 2 pinks as much as he likes 1 :)

Well Phantom was definately hungry! He ate the first pinky in record time ... usually he's fast tho ... he also gobbled up the 2nd pinky ... Tango may or may not be eating tonight he's getting ready to shed and looks really close, he hasn't been too interested in the mouse, I'm going to give him until I go to bed ... of course I know this is normal for them to refuse when going through a shed, I just got lucky w/ Phantom because he ate ... lucky me I'm going to have 1 that likes to eat during shed and one that doesn't ... o well, they both have totally diff personalities anyhow :)

I have put 2, and once even 3 pinkies all in the tub at the same time and my snake ate them perfectly. IMO, I feel he would have gotten more stressed if I'd kept whipping the lid up and poking mice at him after he'd just eaten. Maybe it depends on the individual snake, but that's what I'd do.

I usually give one and then the other once it's swallowed, not for any safety reason, but rather because they find the second one quicker if they see it set down in front of them then if they have to look all over the cage. Sometimes they get confused because they are looking for movement. I've had snakes try and eat the ground beside a mouse rather than the mouse because they are confused. I don't believe it causes any stress having two in at once, but it can take them a while to find the second one sometimes.

I have three snakes eating doubles right now:

Inez gets double big pinks, Choco gets double fuzzies, and Zee gets double hoppers. I put both very hot mice in at the same time (container feeding). If there seems to be a longer than acceptable lag between finishing the first and taking interest in the second, I may either move it closer (Zee doesn't always see it) or wiggle it around (guaranteed to make Inez strike) or heat it up (also guaranteed to cause Inez to notice). I probably get impatient and do this one out of ten times, and in reality, if I just left the room for 30 minutes, it probably wouldn't _be_ a problem.

2 pinkies

Our corn snake is very good--I use frozen pinkies, and put then in his viv at the same time- we clear a spot so there's no substrate nearby- and our little snake just goes right up, gobbles up one, gets that down, then does this cute little slither (like she's trying to sneak up on her prey) and dives right in and the 2nd one goes down fast. Then she gets a drink and goes back into her hide. She's such a good feeder, about 5 months or maybe 6 months old. She actually eats the frozen thawed ones quicker than the live ones I used at first- (yay!)
