Just thinking of something before we buy our first corn...

How long after feeding do you start handling your cornsnake again? Do you put it back from your feeding container to it's enclosure and wait for a specific amount of time? Wait til it's done pooping or until the next day?

Just curious :)
 
It's ok to gently pick up the snake out of the feeding container after eating to return it to its viv. Or you can tip it out of the container. Picking it up won't hurt it, though. Then leave it completely alone for a minimum of 48 hours. More conservative people wait 72 hours. If after 48 hours the lump is completely gone, the snake is safe to handle. If there is still a lump- like you just went up prey sizes or fed doubles for the first time, then give him another day. You absolutely don't want a regurge to happen. It's a huge hassle, and possibly deadly.

Thanks Nanci & starsevol, that gives us a good idea of the time frame between handling and feeding. And we do understand that regurgitation is serious, no matter what animal it is, which is why we wanted to ask everyone how long they wait to handle after feeding.
