First bite...

Ok so i've had Corny almost 9 months and Delilah for about 4 months. Never had a bite or even aggression.

So night before vacation, i'm feeding them in their separate feeding tubs. Corny's lid isnt quite on after dropping the mouse in and Delilah's lid is off as she's about to get her mouse and she starts to slither out and towards the opening on Corny's box. An idiotic move on my part, i reached out towards D's head to move her back into her box and BAM she striked at my finger. Left 2 little punctures and me in shock. I guess i can say i'm glad i got the first one out of the way because i pictured it being WAYY worse than it was. And i learned my lesson and know it was my fault for handling her in the feed box. She only gets food there so thats how she associates it.

Finger healed :)

Nice to know your hand smell like a mouse..Ha!

But when they are in that mode you have to be more careful.

mine have yet to attack the hand that feeds
although a baby racer got me earlier this year when i went hiking - i wouldnt have known if i hadnt seen it - i couldnt feel it at all

I got my first bite recently too! It was also a dumb circumstance; I had been moving furniture around (including the viv and stand) and after putting it in its new position, I noticed some poo. It was kind of against the hide that my snake happened to be in so I lifted it up and went in to scoop it out. But before I knew it he tagged my little finger. I wasn't expecting it at all, and I actually hurt myself a lot worse when I yanked my hand out of the viv (I know better than that but it totally caught me off guard) and whacked my wrist on the rim. I guess that being moved around irritated/scared him, I probably should have waited but I didn't want to leave him in a dirty viv.

At least now I know that it really doesn't hurt at all to get bitten!

Boo bit me the first night I got him, because I was excited and (against all advice to the contrary from everything I'd read) wanted to handle him a bit. Which after a long car ride to a new home, he was NOT in the mood for. Didn't hurt at all, just surprised me. Seems most people don't get bit by corns unless they do something silly or get confused with food. Neither Mouse nor Boo have ever even coiled up since then.

I too have finally been tagged, repeatedly, at a pet shop I was at this past weekend. The place turned out to be a terrible dive and the owner was going to show me what he had in stock for corns, they were all little hatchlings or couple month olds and all in shed. So he grabs two at one time, one in deep blue, one barely in blue and hands them to me and it is like tag fest 2009. I probably got tagged 20 times in 5 min!! Honestly, it was really funny, did not hurt one bit, and the little guys were so small and just thought they were so darn tough!!
