I know what type it is - ....the big scary kind! LOL!!
I have really bad arachnaphobia. I cannot deal with spiders at all. We get the big huntsman spiders in our house all the time and I have to have one of the guys kill them for me. I cannot even stand the thought of them being caught and released because I am afraid they will get back in the house. Logically - I know spiders are good and eat other insects...but I have a huge irrational fear of them. I can't even get myself close enough to squash them personally. The only way I can kill them is with a whole can of bug spray from 10ft away.
Every once in a while though - I do find one that fascinates me enough that I have to photograph it - like the Golden Orb Weavers that I see in the park sometimes.
Yep - them's the ones....I see some pretty good sized ones at Weedon Island Park near me often. Yesterday I went to Lake Louisa State Park up near Clermont and saw some smaller ones...
ooh...and some neat little lizard that I have never seen before. I will try to edit the photo tonight and post it later.
Nice pictures! You probably know I don't like spiders but I am getting better because I see them at the camp a lot. So hopefully someday I will not be scared to see them. LOL. :eek1:
A real beauty. Probably a wolf spider of some kind. You can probably find an I.D. on www.whatsthatbug.com It has a spider section with photos people send that will probably give you a definative i.d. Nifty looking critter. http://venomlist.com has a section on true spiders where you could probably post the photo and someone will identify it for you.
I really can't take spiders. I could walk naked through a swamp full of cottonmouths, but I can't stand a spider on me. The only exception is a Jumping Spider. For some reason, those don't bother me. They are like puppies of the spider world.
