Found two boas under the dog's water bucket (first snakes, need help!)

I found two snakes under the dogs 5gal bucket for water. She's an outside dog and its been around 60 out lately so I'm surprised they are alive. I put them in separate 34qt sterilite bins with actual dog food bowls for water, paper towel and some heat tape (12") hooked up to a hydrofarm thermostat. The warm spot is 95 and the cool side is 75. Here is a pic of one, they both look like this and definately aren't native species -

Those poor babies, out in the wild!! I wonder where they came from, and why they were together!

Do you have other snakes? Sometimes I wonder if people will dump unwanted pets outside of houses where they know a person has them. We had people dumping chickens a lot!

I'm going to move this to General Chit Chat and change your title a little, to get some boa people to look. My guess is get them nice and warm, and then I'd try I guess a hopper-sized mouse? You could try frozen/thawed first. I'd just put it in with the snake after dark. You thaw the mice by putting them in a bowl and running hot water over them for about 15 minutes, then I'd dry fairly well with a paper towel.

Looks like a lil common (Colombian) boa, here's one from years ago to compare

One quick link for setup and care. Good luck, and a nice free pickup :). Looks to be in pretty decent shape; would have to think someone dumped them both close by.

The one in the picture won't go on the hot side and is a little cold to the touch, is he just happy on the cold side right now? I'm going to order them some hides soon, I just only have cash right now and need to put it on the hubby's debit.

Are they small enough to use paper towel rolls for hides? Any box they can barely fit into is good. My snales love wine cube boxes from Target.

Looks like everything I did so far is good, their cold side is a bit cool but I can't seem to get it any higher.

Whoa!! Crazy find lol!!

Good for you on putting them in separate containers. If you haven't already done it, make sure to put some small holes in the sides for air exchange. You can use a small drill bit or a soldering iron if you have one.

Welcome to the forum :wavey:
This is primarily a corn snake forum but not everyone keeps only corn snakes, so someone should be along that can give more in depth advise on care :)

ETA I see Chris already did lol

They are only as big around as jumbo sharpies, I have a paper towel roll I can cut in half and give one to each or I can give the towel roll to the one that's going on the cold side a lot and a toilet paper roll to the other until I get it a paper towel roll (we have a roll almost to the end). I was going to order these hides - 4 of them, two for each container.

Yep, definitely give them a few days to get nice and warm and then try some fresh mice.
My guess is that they will happily eat frozen thawed right away. They are big enough for small adult mice.
