ok we bought a 2 or 3 year old snow corn from some guy locally, the guy told me hehas only eaten live since he got him. I would like to get him on frozen / thawed. the guy also told me he was eating 4 or 5 mice a week wow, we have had for about 1.5 months and he has only ate 3 mice for us not on a scedule eather. how can i get him switched over his tank temps are good and he has plenty of hides and always fresh water and clean cages.

Thanks

Eric

I've never had a former live-eater, even WC, refuse a FT, but this is what I'd do:

Let him get good and hungry- go two weeks without feeding. Thaw the mouse, maybe a little smaller than what you'd normally feed, in hot water, then hold it under water as hot as your tap will go for 30 seconds. Then either dry very well with a paper towel, or with a blow dryer. See what he does.

Oh, an adult corn should be eating one medium adult mouse every seven to ten days, possibly stretching that out to two weeks for chubby males. I have one adult corn that eats jumbo mice, but he weighs almost 900g! And being fed only every ten days, he is still gradually gaining weight.

Thanks nanci for tha help he weighs 645g and today is feeding day and it has been a coulpe weeks since his last meal so that would work out perfectly. i will give your advise a try tonight and will post my results tonight.

Thanks again

Eric

I was going to say something along the lines of Nanci, so I really dont have much to add.

I have never had any trouble switching any corn or boa over to f/t. Only ball pythons are that picky!

If he is as overweight as it sounds, let him get hungry and go from there and keep him on a 2 week feed schedule. If he was eating like the guy told you, no wonder he is not eating weekly for you. He knows he really isnt hungry. We too have a few heavy corns and they take a long time to slim down. The girls are easier, breed them and then they drop the weight and we feed them on a 10 day schedule.

Good luck.
