Future Breeding Project Questions

Eventually I'd like to start a breeding project focusing on the Miami Phase with my end goal being a snake that matures to have a pale silver background with dark blood red saddles with thick black borders, with out the frosted saddles I've seen on some, sort of a Miami Okeetee. The closest I have seen to my ideal is this baby Eastern Milk posted here. I know that Miamis are technically only selectively bred Normals; What I am wondering was if anyone had any advice on how to go about producing this i.e. which bloodlines to choose from and whether or not to introduce snakes from non-Miami lines, such as using an Okeetee to bring in the thick black borders. Any and all advice would be great.

Thanks

Here is a close example of my ideal, this one an actual cornsnake. This one doesn't have truly thick borders and does have the frosted saddles, but I like the clean silver background and the high contrast.

You want to start with the best quality Miami's, and as mentioned, that is going to be Carol, at LBR.
If I'm not mistaken, she has worked with thicker borders as well.

Edit to add: as far as working in non-Miami lines, you will be taking a step backwards in the color department.
I would look for the Miami's with the thickest broders, and selectively breed for thicker borders.

Awesome, thanks every one. Terri I can't wait either I am already starting to gather things for new vivs! Thanks Mystic, I had a feeling that selective breeding with good quality Miamis would be the best way to go so it's nice to have that confirmed. I'll have to get in touch with Carol and get her advice.

I think I saw that Don at SMR has an adult female Okeetee Miami for sale. From the picture it probably does not have as clean of gray that you are looking for, but it does have nice borders. It was in his surplus adults/juvenile section a few days ago.

You may not find everything you want in just one or two snakes; you may have to incorporate bigger borders from one, background color from another, red saddles from another, silver gray background from others. I love Caro'ls line of Miami's, but if you just buy her line your replicating her work, not starting your own project. I'm definitely NOT saying don't consider one or more of hers to start with ;)

LBR line Miami anery pinstripe motley

but if you are looking to really focus on your own breeding project consider everything :)

This is an LBR Miami female I recently picked up from Carol.
The first pic is upon her arrival, but I believe she is either about to go into shed, or in the clear phase of the shed process.
The other photo is the pic Carol posted of her in the for sale thread.

Well she definitely has the borders and the ground color! She's beautiful, one like her would be a great starting point.
